About this role
The Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Medical Director provides physician leadership for the CDI program by promoting accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation that accurately reflects the severity of illness, risk of mortality, quality of care, and resource utilization. This role collaborates with physicians, CDI specialists, coding professionals, case management, utilization review, quality, and hospital leadership to improve documentation practices, ensure regulatory compliance, optimize reimbursement, and improve patient outcomes. The CDI Medical Director serves as a physician champion for documentation excellence, supporting clinical integrity, quality reporting, and organizational performance through interdisciplinary collaboration and physician engagement.
