About this role
Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging exams in either an inpatient and/or outpatient setting in accordance with established protocols for positioning, image quality, radiation safety, and MRI safety. The inpatient setting may also include assignments to specialty areas requiring a radiologic technologists, such as the ED, OR, or Fluoroscopy. Utilizes a variety of specialized equipment to produce diagnostic images including the scanners, power injectors, as well as computers and various software programs to enter patient related information into hospital databases. Provides guidance to the technological staff in order to ensure high quality of work. Assists in the orientation and training of newly hired staff. Responsible for assisting with the scheduling, staffing, and operational aspects of the various sections in the department. Contributes to overall excellence of the department through commitment to personal excellence in technical and interpersonal skills.
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Work requires the level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and three years of previous experience required working in the specific modality. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) is required. Advanced ARRT in primary modality worked is required. State of New Jersey licensure in Radiology Technology is required. Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) granted through the American Heart Association is required within 12 months of hire. IV certification granted through the hospital education department is required within 12 month of hire for CT/MRI discipline modality technologist. Requires the analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic specific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth experience based knowledge. Requires the ability to explain clinical, technical, and diagnostic procedures to patients and their families.
