## Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. This position is a full-time opportunity located in Columbus, OH.

The selected candidate will perform advanced systems engineering research and analysis, conduct quality-control reviews, analyze requirements and system performance, and prepare and review technical documents. This role applies systems engineering principles and practices to complex assignments while collaborating with engineers, technical specialists, project teams, and clients.

The Senior Systems Engineer will also support system architecture, interface definition, integration, verification, validation, and test-planning activities, and may provide technical direction to engineers and technical support staff in performing assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.

## Responsibilities

- Conducts or leads small technical projects or technical tasks within larger projects, ensuring delivery within schedule and budget constraints
- Supports system architecture, interface definition, integration, verification, validation, and test-planning activities
- Analyzes requirements and system performance and supports the development and evaluation of technical alternatives
- Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external clients; presents technical and research results through formal and informal presentations
- Performs advanced systems engineering research and analysis
- Prepares technical specifications and analyzes technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for evaluating requirements and system performance
- Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data
- Analyzes and interprets collected technical data to support engineering decisions and recommendations
- Conducts quality-control reviews, performs data reporting, and prepares and reviews technical documents
- May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff
- Communicates with clients regarding the schedule and quality of assigned deliverables
- Applies systems engineering techniques and processes to support project objectives within established constraints
- May support Battelle-sponsored conferences, scientific conferences, peer-review panels, publications, or other activities that increase company visibility

## Key Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5 years of experience, a master's degree in a related field with 2 years of experience, or a PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
- Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering methodologies throughout the system lifecycle
- Experience developing, decomposing, allocating, tracing, and verifying requirements using recognized systems engineering practices and standards such as INCOSE guidance, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, or EARS
- Experience supporting system integration, verification, validation, and testing activities and creating associated artifacts
- Experience performing complex systems engineering analyses involving requirements, system performance, design data, or test data
- Experience preparing technical specifications, reports, presentations, or other engineering artifacts
- Experience analyzing and interpreting technical data to support engineering decisions and recommendations
- Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements development, architecture design, integration, verification, validation, risk management, and technical planning
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical, technical-writing, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical results and deliverable status effectively to internal and external clients
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), National Security, Nuclear, Aerospace, or other highly regulated technical programs
- Experience with MBSE and digital engineering toolsets such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), IBM Rhapsody, Teamcenter, Windchill, Cradle, or similar tools
- Experience with requirements-management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, or similar requirements-management platforms
- Experience conducting or leading small technical projects or technical tasks within larger projects
- Active DoD Secret security clearance

## Compensation Data

Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $81,600 – $116,300 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
