About this role

Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking a Part-time Food & Beverage Porter! This is a contract that will end on January 3, 2027.

Under the direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Supervisor and/or Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the restaurant and gaming areas. The Porter must demonstrate excellent customer service at all times and work productively with a large team in a fast paced environment. This position also ensures adherence to all polices and procedures. This position may be performed in a restaurant, buffet operation, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre or other areas.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:

• Excellent internal and external customer service skills are required to be displayed at all times
• Clear, clean, sanitize and set tables efficiently in the restaurant and related areas
• Set tables following specific layout as required by the Food & Beverage Department
• Remove garbage from the kitchen, dining room and related services areas, gaming floor, hallways and/or receiving area as required
• Wash glassware and return them to the bar
• Remove dirty dishes and bring them to the kitchen
• Spot clean and sweep dining areas
• Proper stacking and transportation of empty bar products such as beer bottles, cooler bottles, wine bottles to storage area in receiving
• Maintain bar and restaurant stock items in the restaurant, buffet, gaming floor, banquet and other related service areas
• Assist service employees with stocking workstations
• Refill empty products, clean pop and juice connectors, mop spills as required
• Ensure proper rotation of food and drink products
• Maintain stockroom and dry storage area such as breaking down cardboard boxes, organizing products on shelves
• Ensure Keg fridge is clean at all times and remove empty kegs to the receiving area as required.
• Performing other duties as assigned and/or required by management.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Post Secondary hospitality or hotel education an asset
• SIR, Smart Serve or IGB Certificate required
• Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
• Point Of Sale system experience is an asset
• Minimum 1 year food and beverage experience
• Previous porter experience is an asset
• Ability to obtain an AGCO license
• Ability to follow instructions in a professional manner
• Strong organizational skills
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently under pressure in a fast paced work environment
• Ability to prioritize and possess excellent time management and organizational skills
• Able to maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team
