Summary
WesTech is seeking a Quality Control Manager to supervise and lead a team of quality control personnel supporting the fabrication of water and wastewater treatment equipment. This role is responsible for developing and executing quality strategies, systems, standards, and programs that ensure products, materials, and services consistently meet customer, regulatory, industry, and business requirements. The manager provides leadership and direction to Quality Control Engineers, Inspectors, and Coordinators, oversees internal quality and inspection programs, promotes continuous improvement initiatives, and serves as the organization's primary authority on fabrication quality matters. Successful candidates are strategic thinkers, strong technical leaders, effective communicators, and collaborative problem-solvers who can balance quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction.

Some of the work you will do:
Organizational Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WesTech's quality control strategy, programs, standards, procedures, and quality management practices.
- Establish and oversee quality objectives, performance measures, priorities, and resources to ensure alignment with business goals, customer requirements, project needs, and applicable regulatory and technical standards.
- Serve as the organization's primary authority for fabrication quality, inspection requirements, supplier quality, and quality risk management.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Quality Strategy and Program Management
- Lead the development and governance of quality systems, inspection processes, standards, documentation, and supplier oversight programs that improve consistency, reduce risk, and support organizational growth.
- Monitor quality performance, analyze trends and risks, and implement improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide leadership with quality metrics, program status updates, departmental performance reporting, resource planning information, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Project Management, and other stakeholders to improve product quality, fabrication practices, specifications, and business outcomes.
Supplier Quality and Inspection Management
- Lead supplier quality programs, including supplier qualification, auditing, performance monitoring, development initiatives, and corrective action management.
- Establish and maintain risk-based inspection and supplier oversight programs, including self-inspection initiatives, supplier verification processes, and customer witness inspection activities.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), workmanship standards, inspection procedures, qualification records, and verification requirements.
- Ensure quality and inspection requirements are consistently applied across suppliers, products, projects, and fabrication operations.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Quality Control Engineers, Inspectors, and Coordinators while fostering technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and operational effectiveness.
- Manage staffing, workload prioritization, recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and resource allocation to support organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain training, qualification, and competency programs that strengthen quality capabilities across the organization.
- Ensure personnel understand and consistently apply company policies, procedures, safety expectations, and quality standards.
Communication and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary quality representative for customers, suppliers, third-party inspectors, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead discussions regarding quality requirements, inspections, audits, nonconformances, corrective actions, supplier performance, and quality-related risks.
- Support project and contract reviews by evaluating quality requirements, identifying risk, and recommending appropriate inspection, verification, and supplier oversight strategies.
- Communicate quality performance, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly and professionally to all levels of the organization.
Safety
- Promote and enforce safe work practices by ensuring employees, suppliers, and contract inspectors comply with company safety expectations, site requirements, certifications, and applicable regulations during inspections, audits, and field activities.
Here are the skills that you need:
- 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in quality, business, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, coatings, inspection, and supplier quality.
- Working knowledge of fabrication codes, industry standards, and typical manufacturing, inspection, and quality documentation requirements
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer programs.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Here are the skills and qualifications that will set you apart:
- 1 or more years of direct supervisory or leadership experience
- Five or more years of quality control or fabrication experience.
- Bachelors degree or higher in quality, business, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on fabrication, welding, inspection, or testing experience.
- Welding or coating inspection certification.
- Direct supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment, industrial, or minerals processing.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform computer-based work for extended periods.
- Ability to perform inspection-based work (standing, climbing ladders / scaffolding, confined spaces, etc.) for extended periods.
- Some lifting may be involved (up to 50 lb.)
- May be required to be clean-shaved for proper fitting of respiratory equipment.
