Fabrication and Assembly Technician — Fluid Power Products

Are you a hands-on, detail-oriented technician who takes pride in building components accurately to spec and keeping a clean, well-run operation?
As a Fabrication and Assembly Technician at Quest Engineering in Plymouth, MN, you will construct components and assemblies to customer specifications using hand tools, power tools, jigs, and other equipment — measuring and adjusting parts to meet tolerances and quality standards, interpreting technical documents and schematics, and supporting warehouse operations in a fast-paced ISO 9001:2015-certified environment. This is a role for someone who takes quality seriously, works well with others, and is always looking for ways to do things better.

What You'll Do
Fabrication and Assembly
- Perform assembly work in accordance with established quality standards — completing assemblies and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, jigs, and other equipment.
- Measure, align, and adjust parts to meet tolerances and quality standards on every job.
- Interpret technical documents including diagrams, schematics, prints, and written work instructions accurately.
- Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.
Warehouse Operations and Safety
- Perform best warehouse operations practices including safety compliance and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace at all times.
- Handle pallet jacks, powered fork stackers, and other tools and equipment used in warehouse operations.
- Work comfortably in a fast-paced warehouse environment — standing for extended periods and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Use good judgment to solve problems as they arise, escalating when needed.
- Continuously strive for process improvement that meets customer expectations and complies with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
Must Have:
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Hands-on work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work professionally with others.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced warehouse and production environment.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in a warehouse environment (climbing, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping).
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience in a fabrication, assembly, or fluid power distribution environment.
- Familiarity with technical documents, schematics, or prints.
- Experience with pallet jacks, powered fork stackers, or other warehouse equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
