About this role

Basic Purpose

Develop quality processes to ensure parts, weldments, assemblies, and complete machines meet Engineering specifications, PSO requirements, Quality specifications, customer requirements, and company standards.

Nature and Scope

This position works under the general direction of the Quality Control Manager. The incumbent must be able to fulfill the duties of inspection as well as assist Quality Management in gathering quality data, producing quality reports, and documenting quality concerns. The incumbent must be able to interpret blueprints and assist production personnel in identifying and correcting issues related to forming, machining, welding, assembly, and final machine inspection.

The incumbent must understand the properties of metals and basic principles of welding processes and equipment. The incumbent must possess mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge sufficient to perform inspections of completed assemblies and finished machines. The incumbent must work effectively with production employees, foremen, superintendents, engineers, and other departments while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

Principal Accountabilities

- Performs inspections of parts, weldments, assemblies, and complete machines to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

- Inspects welding operations for proper technique, penetration, fusion, appearance, and conformance to company and customer requirements.

- Reviews blueprints, work orders, PSOs, change orders, and customer purchase order requirements for accuracy and compliance.

- Performs chassis inspections, assembly inspections, load tests, paint inspections, final rig-out inspections, and corrective action verification activities.

- Documents inspection findings and assists in developing technical reports related to quality concerns.

- Identifies quality issues and reports discrepancies to appropriate departments for review and resolution.

- Maintains accurate records and documentation within company management systems.

- Supports Quality Department objectives through consistency, initiative, sound judgment, and professional conduct.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

Skills: Computer skills, MS Office, Excel, Word, data management, statistical analysis, problem solving skills.

Physical: The incumbent must be able to work a minimum of ten hours per workday, 5 day work week, and if the work load requires additional parts and material through increased production scheduling, or if the department should fall behind for any reason, additional hours may be required to meet the objectives of the production schedule.

The incumbent must be able to work under a stress-related environment involving exposure to normal welding and burning characteristics and must be able to remain on his/her feet, either walking, bending, twisting, reaching, or climbing (heights of 10-12 feet) for 90-95% of the workday.

The incumbent must have excellent speaking and communication talents and supervisory abilities in working closely with production employees, production foreman, superintendents, and other department heads of related departments.

Education and Experience:

2 Year Technical Degree or proven experience and technical skill that relates to the job.
