Join ChristianaCare's Environmental Services team and help create a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, visitors, and caregivers. This role is essential in supporting infection prevention, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience through specialized healthcare cleaning and disinfection practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, isolation rooms, clinical areas, and high-touch surfaces according to infection prevention and regulatory standards.
- Safely use hospital-grade cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collect, transport, and dispose of trash, regulated waste, and recyclable materials.
- Maintain cleaning equipment, carts, supply areas, and workspaces in a clean and organized condition.
- Respond promptly to work assignments, service requests, and department communications.
- Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues, and infection prevention concerns.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Participate in required training, education, and competency programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Basic proficiency with smartphones, emails, and mobile work assignment systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Understanding of cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and safety practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Team-oriented with a positive, service-focused attitude.

Physical Requirements

- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of supplies and waste materials.

Working Conditions

- Healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases and other biohazards when appropriate precautions are not followed.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
