ChristianaCare is seeking dedicated Environmental Services Associates to help maintain a clean, safe, and healing environment for our patients, visitors, and caregivers. In this vital role, you will directly support patient safety, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience by ensuring healthcare facilities meet the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, isolation areas, procedural spaces, clinical environments, and high-touch surfaces following infection prevention protocols and healthcare cleaning standards.
- Safely use healthcare cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, dilution systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and team members, fostering a positive patient experience.
- Identify and report environmental hazards, safety concerns, equipment issues, and infection prevention risks.
- Support organizational initiatives related to infection prevention, patient safety, regulatory readiness, and service excellence.
- Maintain cleaning equipment, carts, supplies, storage areas, and departmental technology in a clean, organized, and ready state.
- Collect, transport, and properly dispose of trash, regulated waste, recyclables, and other materials in accordance with safety and infection prevention guidelines.
- Respond promptly to work assignments, service requests, and department communications.
- Participate in required training, competency assessments, and continuing education programs.
- Report maintenance concerns, damages, unsafe conditions, and safety violations to leadership.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma preferred.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of environmental services, infection prevention, and healthcare cleaning practices preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow safety protocols.
- Proficiency with smartphones, mobile devices, and work assignment systems.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical duties throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to infectious diseases while following required safety precautions.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
