Description

At Mission Rock Residential, we believe that where you live matters—and so does the team that makes it feel like home.

We are more than a property management company—we’re a people-first organization that values Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Relationships, Inclusivity, Vision, and Empathy. Our I ARRIVE values guide everything we do, from how we serve our residents to how we support our team members.

We foster an inclusive workplace that celebrates diverse perspectives, empowers growth, and strengthens the communities we serve. When you join Mission Rock, you join a team that’s invested in your success and well-being.

The VP, Technology Strategy ensures the company’s technology ecosystem supports business strategy and delivers consistent, effective experience for team members, owners, and residents. The role maintains an enterprise-wide view of how systems connect, identifies opportunities to improve performance and usability, and partners with department leaders to align technology priorities with business needs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This strategic, cross-functional leadership role is responsible for aligning the company’s enterprise application and software ecosystem with business strategy. The VP, Technology Strategy evaluates how property management software, CRM, accounting/ERP, revenue management, maintenance and work order platforms, resident experience applications, BI and reporting tools, and other systems work together to support company priorities rather than treating each platform as a stand-alone solution.

The VP, Technology Strategy, owns the roadmap for enterprise system initiatives and is accountable for how those initiatives are delivered. This includes prioritizing and sequencing projects against business need and capacity, defining scope and success measures with the sponsoring department, and keeping leadership current on progress, risk, and cost. Where implementations run through vendors or implementation partners, this role manages that relationship end to end: evaluating solutions, negotiating scope, holding partners to committed timelines and deliverables, and escalating when performance and adoption fall short.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

This role leads the IT application team, partners with the company’s Advisory Team on enterprise technology priorities, and works with department leaders to drive implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement.

Success in this role is measured by the delivery of prioritized initiatives on time and within approved scope and budget; increased adoption and effective use of enterprise systems; reduced system redundancy and manual work; improved data quality and integration; and measurable improvements to the team member, owner, and resident experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, coach, and develop the IT application team by establishing clear priorities, defining performance expectations, building team capabilities, supporting succession planning, and ensuring appropriate coverage for critical enterprise systems.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

- Demonstrated ability to understand and evaluate a broad software ecosystem (property management, CRM, ERP/accounting, revenue management, maintenance, resident experience platforms, etc.) and how these systems interrelate
- Proven experience connecting technology/systems decisions to overall business strategy, not just system functionality
- Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration and influence across Operations, IT, Accounting, HR, and Marketing
- Experience evaluating and driving improvements to both team member and resident/customer experience through systems and process design
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical/systems language and business strategy language for varied audiences
- Experience with common multifamily industry platforms (e.g., RealPage, Yardi, Entrata, AppFolio) and how they integrate with broader enterprise systems
- Background in change management, systems implementation, or business process optimization
- Experience in a multi-site or multi-property operating environment where enterprise consistency (vs. property-level customization) is a strategic priority

Skills

- Systems and strategic thinker who can see how individual platforms serve — or fail to serve — the business as a whole
- Strong cross-functional influence without direct authority over every stakeholder group
- Genuine curiosity about and empathy for end-user experience, both team member and resident
- Comfortable translating between technical, operational, and executive audiences
- Data-informed decision-maker who balances strategic vision with practical implementation realities
- High business acumen; understands how technology decisions affect financial and operational outcomes

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- 8+ years of experience in a senior leadership role in multifamily property management, real estate operations, marketing, business operations, or technology leadership, with demonstrated enterprise systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, information systems, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
