Job Summary
The Dietary Aide supports food service operations for PACE participants by adhering to individualized dietary plans and organizational policies. This role is responsible for the preparation, service, and monitoring of meals and snacks, as well as assisting with other PACE Center duties as assigned by PACE Center management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Before working independently, meet a standardized set of competencies for the Dietary Aide position established by the PACE plan (CMS required)
- Before engaging in participant care, be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have up-to-date immunizations and vaccines (CMS required)
- Have not been convicted of criminal offenses involving Medicaid, Medicare, other health insurance or health care programs, or social services programs under title XX of the Act (CMS required)
- Have not been excluded from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs (CMS required)
- Have not been convicted of criminal offenses pertaining to physical, sexual, drug, or alcohol abuse (CMS required)
Competencies, Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
- Food service or dietary aide experience in healthcare, long-term care, or senior services settings (Preferred)
- Experience working with a frail or elderly population (Preferred)
- Food Handler Certification or ServSafe certification; may be required by State (Preferred)
- Experience working in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) (Preferred)
- One year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, or in the absence of such knowledge, receipt of appropriate training before working with PACE participants (CMS preferred)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands and work environment for this position will vary based on operational needs and meal service activities, as determined by PACE Center management. Generally, the role may require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday. The employee may be required to lift, carry, push, or pull supplies, equipment, or food items up to 75 pounds. Work is typically performed in a kitchen and PACE Center environment and may involve exposure to hot surfaces, cleaning agents, food allergens, and kitchen equipment. Compliance with infection control, safety, sanitation standards, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by organizational policy is expected.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This non-exempt position may be full time or part-time as determined by PACE Center management. Expected hours of work will align with the operational needs of the PACE Center and may vary based on scheduling requirements. The position requires work during 8am- 12pm (Part Time), including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays, as assigned by management.
