Job Description BAE Systems, INC, is seeking a Weld Operations Shift Manager to join our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Operations team within the Platforms & Services segment. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our manufacturing operations, leading professional welders, ensuring high-quality components are produced safely and efficiently to meet rigorous Defense specifications.

General Requirements/Duties:
- Working under general Operation Manager I supervision, you will have the responsibility to lead professional welders and fabricators with the goal to drive quality, output, and consistency on your shift.
- Manage team performance, time keeping efforts, disciplinary actions when needed, resource planning, and shift material budgeting.
- You will work with another shift manager and split duties that best fit the team and organization.
- Own your weld shift and the day-to-day operations with minimal oversight.
- Support the team by conducting or facilitating ongoing audits or 6S events to ensure compliance with our standards.
- Monitor and support weld equipment and facilitate improvements for repairs and replacement activities with local engineering groups.
- Be responsible for your team which reports directly to you daily.
- Be able to order consumables and supplies as needed through companies like AirGas, Grainger, or other vendors and use sites like Coupa.
- Be responsible for driving Return to Green (RTG) metrics on your shift.
- Be able to solve medium-to-complex issues in a weld shop environment.
- Provide feedback to ops. management, engineering, and facilities as to needed improvements.
- Support continuous improvement opportunities to positively impact Delivery, Quality and Cost metrics.
- Track daily output signals and help create new lean processes to optimize output.
- Work directly with the Lead Person to delegate tasks and responsibilities daily.
- Work directly with the Strategic Ops. Manager to facilitate change, growth, and development of employees.
- Assist other supervisors/managers in day-to-day tasks as needed, within operations.
- Support the world class safety performance and culture at BAE systems by actively seeking to improve workplace safety and ergonomics.
Provide ideas and suggestions to improve your work and the work of others. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically, a bachelor’s degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of welding/fabricating shop experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Technical Knowledge:
- Familiar with various welding processes such as: MIG and TIG for both steel and aluminum
- Ability to read, interpret, and offer feedback on blueprints, work instructions, and process improvements
- Good understanding of GD&T and NDT processes and procedures (AWS, ASME, ANSI, ASNT etc.).

- Understanding and proficiency in lean manufacturing processes. Including, but not limited to: Kaizen, 6S, A3 root cause, 5WHY analysis, Kanban, etc.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Degree in Business Management, Quality, or Engineering. Or, equivalent experience.
- 10 years of operations or similar field experience
- Certified ASNT Level III or CWI (or similar).
- Experience with ANSI, ASME, ASNT, AWS, Mil-Stds or similar.
- Highly versed in day-to-day weld operations, quality requirements, and production.
- Ability to train and coach employees for their development.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $92180 - $156707

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
