- Design packaging and material handling equipment, including conveyor systems and related mechanical components.
- Develop mechanical designs for large systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Create detailed machine designs using SolidWorks and other CAD tools for 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
- Produce accurate shop drawings and fabrication drawings to guide manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for all designed equipment and systems.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to sheet metal design and other structural components.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to review designs, resolve issues, and incorporate feedback.
- Support the development of conveyor systems and material handling solutions from concept through completion.
- Ensure all designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Participate in continuous learning and training to build real-world engineering skills and adapt to new tools and processes.
- Contribute to documentation and updates for engineering projects, including revisions to drawings and BOMs.
- Assist in optimizing existing designs to improve performance, reduce cost, and simplify fabrication and assembly.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. - 3.5 GPA requirement
- Proficiency with SolidWorks for 2D drafting and 3D mechanical design (strongly preferred).
- Experience with mechanical engineering and machine design, particularly for conveyors and material handling equipment.
- Ability to design and detail large mechanical systems and assemblies.
- Experience creating and interpreting shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Experience preparing and managing bills of materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and general mechanical design principles.
- Strong academic foundation in mechanical engineering concepts.
- Ability to work with engineering teams to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting, modeling, and documentation.

Work Environment You will work in a brand-new, modern facility that is expanding rapidly due to consistent business and a substantial project backlog. During the construction of the new building, you may work out of a trailer on-site, requiring flexibility and comfort with a dynamic environment. The role uses engineering technologies such as SolidWorks and other CAD tools for mechanical design, drafting, and 3D modeling, along with standard office and engineering equipment. The organization emphasizes hands-on training and exposure to real-world projects, offering opportunities to move between business units and advance your career. While on contract, paid holidays are available, and when converted to a permanent role, you may have opportunities for overtime and profit sharing. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
