Human Resources Generalist Position Purpose

The Human Resources Generalist delivers day-to-day HR support across the full employee lifecycle for a multi- state workforce. The role partners with branch managers and employees on training and development, benefits, onboarding, and provides policy and procedure guidance to employees and management. It serves as a trusted point of contact for HR questions and helps keep policies applied consistently across all locations.

Human Resources Generalist Essential Functions

- Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal

- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices, reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance

- Participates in developing department goals and objectives, including recruiting and retention training and development, employee and labor relations, and total rewards

- Maintains confidentiality and integrity in all matters

- Coordinates and delivers manager and employee training on HR topics and policies

- Supports performance review cycles, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives

- Assists with the Performance Management processes and training

- Assists with reporting for the Apprenticeship Program

- Aids with conducting exit interviews and shares trends with HR leadership.

- Conducts or assists with workplace investigations and recommends resolutions

- Serves as a point of contact for employee and manager questions on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns

- Helps draft, update, and communicate offer letters, policies, and the employee handbook so they stay consistent across locations

- Consistent and reliable on-site attendance

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Human Resources Generalist Minimum Qualifications

- Five (5) years of recent human resources experience required

- Bachelor's degree in human resources, or a related field preferred, or additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and various web-based applications

- Possesses the ability to quickly learn HRIS and ATS software

- Experience in heavy equipment, construction, manufacturing, or another industrial or skilled-trades environment a plus

- PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus

Human Resources Generalist Physical Requirements

- Lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds without assistance

- The ability to drive locally and to sit for long periods

- Ability to work with a team or independently
