Overview
The Spence School seeks an accomplished, passionate trumpet instructor to join our Instrumental Music program as a substitute teacher, with a possibility to become a regular part time instructor. The position represents an exciting opportunity to join a long-standing auxiliary program engaged in fulfilling a mission to nurture student imagination and self expression through instrumental music study and performance.
Responsibilities
- Teach weekday and after school 40-60 minute private lessons to 1-3 students
- Communicate regularly with the Program Administration
- Prepare students for concerts and other performance activities
- Participate in professional development and meetings as necessary
- Evaluate student progress
- Use age and skill-appropriate repertoire of all types of music literature

- Approaches work with optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor
- Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Supports Spences commitment to equity
- Possesses an advanced degree or equivalent experience
- Has sustained experience teaching young children
- Experience as a performing professional musician
- Possess strong writing, verbal and organizational skills
Pay : $72 - $92 per lesson
