We are seeking a Tax Director to join our Strategic Alliance Team. As part of our National Tax Strategic Alliances Team, youll play a key role in serving some of our most important strategic relationships. Youll bring your tax expertise, business perspective, and relationship-building skills to preferred and top-tier clients of leading wealth management companies that have selected our firm as their trusted advisors. Working collaboratively across the organization, youll deliver seamless, high-value client experience while helping to deepen and grow these strategic relationships through a combination of technical expertise, advisory services, and innovative technology-enabled solutions. Many clients within the alliance participate in technology-enabled tax service offerings that incorporate digital workflows, automation, and AI assisted tools, creating opportunities to deliver scalable, efficient, and high-quality tax services
Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Serve as the primary tax leader for strategic alliance relationships with wealth management organizations where the firm is the preferred tax provider. Provide tax leadership across a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, charitable entities, and closely held businesses while strengthening and expanding advisor relationships to support growth.
- Own the tax strategy, delivery, and review of client engagements, including complex individual, fiduciary, and business tax returns. Ensure engagements are technically sound, appropriately staffed, delivered in accordance with internal service level expectations, and aligned with clients' broader tax, estate, and wealth planning objectives, including those participating in technology-enabled service delivery models.
- Manage relationships across the alliance ecosystem, serving as a trusted advisor to both wealth management professionals and clients. Coordinate communications, provide tax perspectives on planning opportunities, and determine the appropriate level of advisor and client involvement based on the matter at hand.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the tax professionals supporting the alliance by providing technical oversight, coaching, and accountability. Delegate work appropriately while building team capabilities and preparing staff to manage increasingly complex engagements.
- Identify and drive tax planning and advisory opportunities by understanding clients' financial, business, estate, trust, charitable, and wealth management objectives and connecting those needs to appropriate firm resources and solutions.
- Oversee engagement staffing, workflow, and delivery, effectively leveraging onshore and offshore resources, technology-enabled workflows, automation, and AI-assisted tools to support clients participating in technology-enabled tax service offerings while enhancing scalability, capacity, profitability, and service quality.
- Collaborate across tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and advisory service lines to deliver an integrated client experience, ensuring opportunities are identified, communicated, and addressed proactively.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and evolution of the alliance and tax practice through relationship expansion, service enhancement, talent development, operational improvements, refinement of the overall delivery model, and advancement of technology -enabled tax service offerings.
- Champion the adoption of automation, AI enabled solutions, and innovative service delivery models that enhance client experience, operational scalability, and practice growth.
- Maintain a strong connection to the broader Tax Practice by staying informed of firm standards, policies, methodologies, technology initiatives, service offerings, and strategic priorities. Serve as a bridge between the Alliance and the broader Tax Practice, ensuring alignment with firm objectives, operational expectations, and quality standards. Leverage and promote leading practices from across the firm while helping shape and enhance the Alliance's unique service model.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- 10+ years of public accounting experience, including 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Masters of Tax or LLM preferred.
- CPA, JD, or EA license required.
- Top 25 accounting firm experience preferred.
- Broad tax technical knowledge and experience across high-net-worth individuals and business tax matters.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build credibility and collaborate effectively across clients, teams, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive high-quality results .
- Experience representing clients in front of the IRS and state agencies.
- Highly motivated to succeed and be part of a high-performing team.
- Proficient with CCH Axcess, Sureprep, BNA Income Tax Planner, CCH AnswerConnect, RIA Checkpoint, XCM and Microsoft Office.
- Experience leading teams and engagements utilizing technology-enabled tax platforms, workflow automation tools, digital service delivery models, and other innovative solutions to enhance client service and operational effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to champion the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve scalability, efficiency, quality, and the overall client experience.
