We are looking for a Senior to join our Audit Department with a focus on the real estate industry. As a Real Estate Audit Senior, you will serve clients across a broad range of real estate asset classes and ownership structures and will be responsible for:

- Conduct audits, reviews, and compilations for real estate owners, operators, developers, investors, funds, and property management companies, including testing of controls, substantive testing, and analytical procedures.

- Perform and supervise procedures over key real estate accounts and transactions, including rental revenue, operating expenses, tenant receivables, real estate investments, acquisitions and dispositions, debt, construction and development costs, capital expenditures, and equity.

- Prepare and review financial statements and related disclosures under U.S. GAAP and the income tax basis of accounting, recognizing differences between the two reporting frameworks.

- Apply U.S. generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) and relevant accounting guidance to engagements involving all classes of real estate, including residential, multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, mixed-use, and development properties.

- Coordinate day-to-day engagement activities, including planning, fieldwork, client requests, supervision of staff, and wrap-up, to support timely, efficient, and high-quality execution.

- Lead audit engagements from planning through completion, monitor timelines and budgets, identify and communicate accounting and audit issues, and ensure compliance with firm quality standards.

- Mentor, train, and supervise staff, including reviewing workpapers and providing timely, actionable feedback.

- Develop collaborative and professional relationships with client accounting teams, property managers, asset managers, and other stakeholders through clear communication and responsiveness.

- Stay current on real estate industry developments, evolving accounting guidance, regulatory changes, and emerging audit risks.

- Participate in professional development activities to deepen technical accounting, auditing, and real estate industry knowledge.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.

- CPA license or education requirements completed for CPA eligibility.

- Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience, including substantive experience auditing real estate companies.

- Experience serving clients across multiple real estate asset classes, such as residential, multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, mixed-use, and development properties.

- Working knowledge of financial statement preparation and auditing under both U.S. GAAP and the income tax basis of accounting.

- Familiarity with common real estate ownership and investment structures, including partnerships, limited liability companies, joint ventures, and investment funds.

- Ability to identify and address accounting and audit matters common to real estate entities, including rental revenue, acquisitions and dispositions, real estate capitalization, debt, construction and development costs, and related-party transactions.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on client responsiveness.

- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.

- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and staff supervision skills.

- Ability to excel both independently and collaboratively.

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

- Knowledge of Casewares Dynamic Assurance Solution (DAS) Suite is a plus.
