The Opportunity:

We’re looking to fill an opening for a Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management to join our Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management team.

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Risk Management & Strategic Sourcing, the Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management is responsible for setting the strategic direction and advancing Aviso’s strategic sourcing and supplier management function across the supplier lifecycle. The Director leads the evolution of the operating model, governance, capabilities and insights required to strengthen sourcing decisions, optimize commercial value, and improve supplier performance and oversight. The role builds trusted partnerships with business leaders and suppliers, leads and develops the Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management team, and provides direct leadership on high-criticality, high-value and complex engagements where senior-level commercial judgment and influence are required.

What your day looks like:

- Set Strategic Sourcing Direction: Define and advance strategic sourcing practices, using market intelligence, spend insights and business priorities to shape sourcing approaches and long-term value opportunities. Integrate responsible procurement considerations into sourcing practices and decisions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Provide direct leadership on high-criticality, high-value and complex sourcing initiatives, negotiations and commercial decisions
- Advance Supplier Lifecycle Management: Lead the continued evolution of supplier lifecycle management across onboarding, performance, renewal and offboarding. Establish scalable governance, decision criteria and forward-looking planning that connect supplier performance, risk, commercial value and business needs to lifecycle decisions
- Strengthen Supplier Performance and Value: Lead the ongoing evolution of supplier performance management and strategic relationship oversight. Leverage supplier performance, risk and commercial insights to identify improvement opportunities, inform renewal and sourcing strategies, strengthen accountability, and drive greater value across the supplier portfolio
- Shape Commercial Strategy and Value Realization: Identify and advance opportunities to optimize costs, rationalize supplier relationships, improve contractual outcomes and enhance commercial value through competitive sourcing, negotiation and renewal planning
- Influence Enterprise Decisions and Supplier Relationships: Advise senior leaders and business owners on sourcing, supplier and commercial decisions, balancing value, service, risk and strategic priorities. Establish governance for key supplier relationships and lead strategic engagements with suppliers to improve accountability, performance, innovation and long-term alignment
- Elevate the Function and Build Capability: Advance the function’s strategic roadmap and lead the continuous enhancement of its operating model, governance, methodologies, technology enablement and organizational adoption. Lead, coach and develop the team, establish priorities, and build the capabilities required to strengthen sourcing and supplier management outcomes
- Drive Governance, Insights and Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance sourcing and supplier management policies, processes, tools, controls, metrics and reporting. Translate sourcing, spend, renewal, supplier performance and risk information into actionable insights and recommendations that support senior leadership decision-making and demonstrate the function’s value

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management or a related discipline, including experience leading complex sourcing and commercial negotiations
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, commerce, finance, supply chain management, economics, or law, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- A professional designation in procurement, supply chain management, contract management, or related designation is an asset
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing employees and building effective, accountable teams
- Demonstrated experience setting functional direction and developing or materially enhancing sourcing and supplier management operating models, governance frameworks, performance programs and lifecycle practices
- Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with demonstrated ability to shape sourcing and renewal strategies, evaluate complex proposals, identify enterprise value opportunities and balance cost, service, risk and business requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, lead complex initiatives and exercise sound judgment in situations involving incomplete information or differing stakeholder perspectives
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence decision-making and present recommendations, supplier performance information and commercial considerations clearly to senior leadership
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, enhance insights, support decision-making and streamline ways of working is an asset
- Experience advancing responsible sourcing or third-party risk management practices is an asset
- Fluent communication skills in English are required, and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $135,000 - $160,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
