Residence Coordinators play a vital role in fostering student success by supporting residential communities, advising student leaders, responding to student concerns, and promoting personal growth and belonging within the residence halls.
This is an exciting opportunity for a student-centered professional who is passionate about leadership development, community building, and supporting college students through their residential experience. Residence Coordinators serve as key members of the Residence Life team, working collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and campus partners to create safe, vibrant, and inclusive living-learning environments.
Key responsibilities include supervising and developing Resident Advisors, managing residential operations, addressing student conduct and behavioral concerns, supporting crisis response efforts, implementing educational and community-building initiatives, and contributing to departmental projects that enhance the student experience.
Our Residence Coordinator roles are full-time, live-in positions that include year-round housing. Residence Coordinators are expected to participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed to address student emergencies and community concerns.

What You'll Do
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate a team of Resident Advisors and student leaders.
- Foster inclusive, welcoming, and supportive residential communities.
- Respond to student concerns, crisis situations, and emergency incidents.
- Address student conduct matters and facilitate educational interventions.
- Develop and implement programs that support student engagement, leadership development, and community building.
- Advise student groups and collaborate with campus partners to support student success initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for residential communities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages a university residential community including the selection, training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students assigned to the residence
- Provides leadership and guidance for business operation processes such as facilities opening and closing procedures, facilities management, and related areas
- Develops and implements educational and cultural programs, services, and activities in the residential community, with a focus on the principles of community development, student engagement, wellness, diversity, inclusion, and retention
- Ensures budgeting, personnel matters, and reporting are managed in accordance with university, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, procedures, and policies
- Oversees the response to, resolution of, and decision-making for matters of significance such as emergency housing, involvement of other offices, parental contact, etc
- Meets with students to resolve complex issues, makes referrals, and conducts follow-up as needed in areas including, but not limited to: social skill development, personal safety, conflict resolution, understanding of university policy and procedures, and academic success

- Knowledge of student development theories and practices
- Knowledge of crisis management/conflict resolution
- Skill in advising and coaching
- Skill in using technology and systems to support administrative, operation and program functions
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; use confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, and protect information appropriately
- Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals
Minimum Education & Experience
- Master's degree in related field
- 1 year of relevant experience
Job Level Overview
Specialized Contributor Level 2 - A fully functional role requiring established knowledge of the profession or field of work. Responsible for completing substantive assignments and projects. Problems are varied and non-routine, and resolution requires exercising judgment, analysis, advisement, creativity, and understanding broader sets of issues. May provide assistance to entry level staff.

In compliance with NYS's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is listed above.
