About this role

The Strategy & Business Development team partners with senior Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) leadership globally as a trusted advisor to solve their most critical strategic issues. The AWM team is also engaged to address firmwide topics as needed. We work on mission-critical projects ranging from developing growth strategies, to assessing and planning entry into new markets, and more.

As an Asset & Wealth Management Strategy Associate, in AWM you will support global platform offering investment management across equities, fixed income, real estate, hedge funds, private equity, liquidity, and multi-asset solutions, as well as trust and estate, banking, and brokerage services for high net worth clients and retirement services for corporations and individuals. AWM serves client groups globally through two core businesses: the Asset Management (AM) business, which serves institutional and retail clients, and the Global Private Bank (GPB) business, which serves high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.

Job responsibilities

- Performing competitive and market sizing analyses, including profiling competitors’ offerings / strategies and identifying factors driving growth or change in industry structure

- Identifying and developing growth strategies, based on identifying customer segments, buying behaviors, and customer value propositions

- Modeling business decisions, determining cost structures / drivers, and assessing financial impacts

- Defining operating models and addressing related organizational design and client coverage segments

- Engaging in client meetings as subject matter experts

- Managing or facilitating inter-LOB or intra-LOB initiatives

- Driving development of key leadership communication and strategy materials (including for Investor Day and annual Operating Committee off-sites)

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

- 3+ years in consulting with a top-tier management consulting firm or an internal consulting, corporate strategy team, or equivalent experience in asset & wealth management industry

- A hypothesis-driven mind-set, combined with strong business intuition, creativity and tenacity, to develop business insights

- Ability to provide structure to ambiguous situations, applying problem-solving frameworks to cut through ambiguity with confidence

- Strong quantitative skills, particularly designing complex models in Excel

- Ability to build consultative relationships with senior management, becoming a trusted partner

- Ability to prepare clear and concise, well-designed presentations in PowerPoint

- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills; prior experience presenting to senior management

- Exceptional interpersonal leadership and influencing skills, and ability to achieve goals without direct control over resources
