Under the supervision of the Director, Insurance, the incumbent acts as a trusted advisor to internal clients (both the A&C team and business units) regarding project insurance matters, from the preconstruction phase through project completion. The incumbent will also play an external-facing role by collaborating with various stakeholders and maintaining a strong industry network. As part of their responsibilities, they manage insurance files of moderate to high complexity while leveraging their expertise to support teams in identifying and implementing effective solutions.
What you will do
• Review and provide recommendations on tenders and contracts, with a focus on insurance requirements, to determine project insurance needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Participate in the negotiation and placement of insurance coverage required for projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Manage a portfolio of insurance extension files of moderate to high complexity.
• Leverage insurance expertise to advise and support team members in analyzing files and identifying appropriate solutions.
• Provide high-quality advisory services to project teams by responding to insurance-related inquiries and ensuring proper follow-up on assigned files.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with insurers, brokers, and industry partners.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes, tools, and practices to increase operational efficiency.
• Participate in decision-making that impacts medium-term objectives and identify overall risks.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the construction industry, project delivery methods, and contract types in order to anticipate risks and adapt insurance recommendations accordingly.
This role could be for you if you have
• Relevant experience in insurance placement within an insurance brokerage firm or equivalent experience.
• DEC in Insurance and Financial Services, DEC in Administrative Techniques (Insurance Option), AEC in Property and Casualty Insurance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience analyzing complex contracts and insurance programs.
• Experience in the construction industry will be considered a significant asset.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is required, as the role involves regular collaboration with stakeholders across Canada in french
