About this role

The Design & Construction (D&C) PMO (Project Management Office) is actively seeking a PMO Project Controls to join our team. This position requires a results-driven, self-initiator and detail-oriented individual who will be responsible for the establishment and leadership of the Project Management Office for a medium -scale, multi-year construction project. This is a critical leadership role focused on driving project control, consistency, and successful delivery. Project Controls will assist with developing, implementing, and maintain PMO processes, tools, and reporting frameworks to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires a deep understanding of construction project management methodologies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

PMO Establishment & Governance:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive PMO Project Controls framework, including methodologies, standards, templates, and tools tailored to the specific construction project.
- Establish and maintain project governance structures, including steering committees, project boards, and change control processes.
- Ensure adherence to PMO standards and methodologies across all project teams.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and PMO performance.

Project Performance Management:

- Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality control processes.
- Monitor project performance against baselines and provide regular status reporting to stakeholders.
- Identify and escalate project issues and risks, and work with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate project stage gates and audits to ensure compliance with PMO standards and project requirements.

Reporting & Analytics:

- Develop and maintain project dashboards and reports to provide real-time visibility into project status, risks, and issues.
- Analyze project data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare executive-level presentations and reports on project performance. Utilize earned value management (EVM) principles.

Resource Management:

- Collaborate with resource managers to ensure projects are adequately staffed with qualified personnel.
- Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities for optimization.

Stakeholder Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including project sponsors, project managers, contractors, and vendors.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues.

Process Improvement:

- Continuously identify and implement improvements to PMO processes and methodologies.
- Champion the use of best practices in project management.

Team Leadership:

- Develop team members with PMO strategies
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Minimum requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in project management including experience on medium-scale construction projects (>$50M).
