Job Title: Medication Administration Technician (PRN)

Location: Prince George County Facility, 3000 Lottsford Vista Road, Bowie, MD

Hourly Rate: $16.00–$19.00 per hour

Schedule: PRN, weeknight and weekend overnight shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Complete medication-related paperwork for new admissions.

- Verify new clients’ medications during the intake process.

- Assist the medical department with required documentation.

- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and onsite staff to ensure client needs are met.

- Assist with and oversee medication administration in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

- Monitor client medications and distribute them on time.

- Serve as a practicum observer for recently trained staff completing medication-administration training.

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record and communication logs.

- Complete new-admission paperwork as needed.

- Communicate effectively with staff through verbal and written communication.

- Attend meetings and required training sessions.

- Listen to clients and provide appropriate support regarding their treatment needs.

- Evaluate clients’ behavioral and emotional needs and provide input to the treatment team.

- Maintain a safe, orderly, confidential, and therapeutic environment.

- Provide crisis intervention and respond appropriately to client emergencies.

- Transport clients when necessary.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Competencies

- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and onsite staff.

- Maintain a safe and therapeutic medication department while minimizing errors.

- Demonstrate knowledge of medication-administration procedures.

- Possess knowledge of substance-use-disorder and mental-health treatment.

- Maintain working knowledge of HIPAA, licensing requirements, and CARF standards.

- Support the organization’s clinical programs and treatment objectives.

- Complete all required and mandatory training hours.

- Maintain professional and confidential relationships with clients.

- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.

Education and Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Two to five years of experience in the medical or healthcare field preferred.

- Knowledge of medication-administration procedures preferred.

- Experience using an electronic medical record preferred.

- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.

Due to the nature of behavioral healthcare work and our commitment to client safety, candidates selected for hire must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any required state-mandated clearances. Employment is contingent upon meeting all screening requirements in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting-body regulations.
