## Project Overview:
Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. ## Job Summary:
The Lead Indirects Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, coordination, and execution of project indirects and construction-site support operations. This position serves as the senior field leader for indirects activities supporting the development, operation, and maintenance of the project site, including temporary facilities, offices, fencing, traffic control, parking, temporary roads, break facilities, tool cribs, laydown areas, delivery logistics, site services, and related support infrastructure. The role provides leadership, training, career development, and oversight to multiple Indirects Superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, and vendors while coordinating resources, priorities, schedules, productivity, safety performance, environmental compliance, and interfaces across the project.
## Major Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, training, and development to multiple Indirects Superintendents, Craft Professionals, and site-support teams; establish priorities, coordinate assignments, and monitor performance across assigned work areas.
- Establish indirects execution strategies, operational plans, work sequencing, site-development priorities, and workface-readiness requirements for temporary facilities, offices, fencing, traffic control, parking, roads, break facilities, tool cribs, laydown areas, delivery logistics, and related support services.
- Determine workforce, supervision, material, tool, equipment, and subcontract requirements; support development of construction methods, schedules, manning plans, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans for indirects activities.
- Develop and maintain work schedules and Three Week Lookaheads, provide weekly progress updates, verify schedule compliance, identify constraints, and implement corrective actions or recovery plans to support the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate indirects activities and interfaces with Area and Discipline Superintendents, Field Engineering, Project Controls, Field Procurement, Subcontract Technical Representatives, ES&H, Environmental, Security, Logistics, and other project stakeholders.
- Administer and monitor direct hire, subcontractor, and vendor work for compliance with approved scope, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, job-site work rules, inspection requirements, and quality expectations.
- Reviews progress, installed quantities, cost and schedule performance, productivity, resource usage, forecasts, and project-automation data; communicate status, risks, constraints, and required actions to construction management.
- Identify and resolve site-support, access, logistics, environmental, engineering, subcontract, and constructability issues; coordinate timely support and escalate critical risks that may affect field productivity or project milestones.
- Champion Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy and ensure safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping are integrated into all Indirects operations.
## Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
## Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of indirects and construction-site support operations on large multi-discipline projects, including temporary facilities, site offices, parking, fencing, traffic control, temporary roads, break facilities, tool cribs, laydown areas, delivery logistics, utilities, maintenance, and general site services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, mentor, and develop multiple Superintendents and large field organizations while coordinating Craft Professionals, subcontractors, vendors, priorities, interfaces, and accountability for safe and productive execution.
- Ability to plan and execute indirects work using work packages, Three Week Lookaheads, short-interval planning, resource forecasting, constraint management, quantity tracking, productivity monitoring, cost and schedule analysis, and recovery planning.
- Working knowledge of project controls, subcontract and vendor administration, field procurement, inspection coordination, environmental-control requirements, implementing job-site rules, site logistics, permitting, and project automation tools.
- Ability to read and apply drawings, layouts, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, permits, environmental plans, inspection requirements, subcontract documents, vendor information, and field changes affecting Indirects activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, technical judgment, coordination, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across Construction, Engineering, Procurement, ES&H, Environmental, Logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.
