About this role
The BIM (Building Information Modeling) / Virtual Design Coordinator supports the delivery of coordinated constructible models for complex industrial water treatment, ultrapure water, wastewater, and semiconductor projects. This role has primary responsibility for coordinating, directing, and checking BIM and virtual design work performed by subcontractor companies and internally, while managing multidisciplinary model coordination, facilitating clash resolution, and maintaining accurate BIM deliverables throughout design and construction.
What will you do:
· Coordinate multidisciplinary 3D models across process, piping, mechanical, structural, architectural, electrical, and controls disciplines.
· Perform mechanical design work as required to support project execution, including piping layouts, equipment arrangements, skid interfaces, pipe support concepts, and preparation or review of related design deliverables.
· Maintain federated models and lead formal clash detection, model reviews, coordination meetings, assignment of clashes, resolution tracking, and issue closeout.
· Check models for accuracy, completeness, constructability, equipment access, maintenance clearances, and compliance with project standards.
· Review piping layouts and pipe support concepts for coordination, constructability, support spacing and locations, structural interfaces, access, and interference with equipment and other disciplines.
· Support development and implementation of the BIM Execution Plan, model exchange requirements, file structures, and milestone deliverables.
· Coordinate model information with engineers, designers, project managers, vendors, contractors, and client representatives.
· Provide day-to-day coordination and technical direction to subcontractor companies performing BIM, modeling, detailing, and virtual design services.
· Review and check subcontractor models and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, discipline coordination, constructability, compliance with the BIM Execution Plan, and conformance with project standards before acceptance or issue.
· Define subcontractor priorities, model requirements, file exchange expectations, deliverable schedules, and coordination responsibilities; communicate required corrections and verify completion.
· Serve as the primary BIM coordination point of contact for subcontractor companies and hold subcontractors accountable for timely resolution of clashes, comments, quality issues, and incomplete deliverables.
· Track coordination issues, document decisions, communicate priorities, and escalate unresolved risks.
· Support 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC design reviews, as well as fabrication, installation, and field coordination activities.
