Job Summary
The WordPress Developer Co-op Student will support the development, maintenance, testing, and continuous improvement of the organization’s WordPress websites and digital platforms. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, the student will assist with WordPress configuration, content management, troubleshooting, quality assurance, accessibility, and web development activities.
The role provides hands-on experience working in a professional web development environment and exposure to WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs, cloud technologies, accessibility standards, domain management, DNS configuration, SSL certificates, and development workflows. Exposure to Vue.js may also be provided depending on project needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with day-to-day WordPress website maintenance and support.
• Assist with creating and updating WordPress pages, templates, themes, and plugins.
• Support front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Assist with basic PHP and WordPress development tasks.
• Gain experience working with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
• Assist with website testing, troubleshooting, and bug identification.
• Assist with accessibility testing and remediation, including WCAG-related requirements.
• Support WordPress plugin and core update testing.
• Gain exposure to APIs, AWS/Azure, domains, DNS, HTTPS, and SSL certificates.
• May gain exposure to Vue.js depending on project requirements.
• Assist with technical documentation, task tracking, and research.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with development team members.
Skills and Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a University or College program related to Computer Science, Software Development, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development concepts.
• Exposure to WordPress, JavaScript, or PHP is considered an asset.
• Exposure to Vue.js is considered an asset but is not required.
• Exposure to Git, AWS/Azure, APIs, DNS, or SSL is considered an asset.
• Basic awareness of web accessibility or WCAG standards is considered an asset.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Primarily an office and computer-based environment.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 20.64 - 24.53
