The compensation for this position will be $250,000 - $300,000 with opportunity for 40% annual incentive. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, education and location.
The General Manager, Surgical Division leads Owens & Minor’s Surgical Product Division, including surgical categories such as drapes and gowns, sterilization, general surgical products, and the kitting business. This role owns divisional P&L, market strategy, product portfolio, pricing, commercial execution, and the operating discipline required to significantly scale O&M Global Products and deliver meaningful profitable growth. The General Manager is accountable for top-line growth, margin expansion, portfolio lifecycle management, customer-centric market strategy, and below-the-line impact excluding manufacturing costs. The role serves as the key business and commercial thought leader for the division, working closely with cross-functional leadership teams and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
Core Responsibilities
P&L and Growth Strategy
- Manage the business to meet top-line objectives in a dynamic, diverse market environment while holding P&L accountability for multiple lines of business.
- Design and execute commercial strategy, prioritize markets, products, and services based on growth and profitability opportunities, and increase wallet share with existing customers while entering priority markets and channels.
Portfolio, Pricing, and Market Development
- Lead portfolio and lifecycle management, including accelerating new product introductions, rationalizing the SKU portfolio, strengthening brand positioning, and expanding margin across domestic and global markets.
- Oversee market development, geographic expansion, and market investment decisions while assessing M&A opportunities.
Commercial and Customer Execution
- Set the direction for Sales, Product Management, Marketing Services, E-Commerce, and Pricing & Contracting teams across direct, distributor, and online sales channels.
- Enhance commercial capabilities through customer segmentation, customer journey insights, voice-of-customer discipline, and pricing, contracting, rebate, and chargeback strategies with customers and internal stakeholders.
Cross-Functional and External Leadership
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, Regulatory, Strategic Sourcing, Value Engineering, and other teams to execute healthcare supplies strategies, improve margin, and ensure alignment between operations and markets.
- Represent the business to internal and external stakeholders, co-manage relationships with government agencies, customers, and distributors, and navigate complex regulatory environments.
Talent and Operating Leadership
- Establish product governance, decision rights, RACI discipline, stage gates, initiative management, review cadence, and trusted common data/KPIs to align teams to business strategy and model leadership commitment to quality and environmental management systems.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in Sales & Marketing, Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare, or a related discipline preferred. Graduate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- 15 or more years of commercial healthcare experience, including supply chain, pharmacy, healthcare products or services, business-to-business sales, account management, or related fields.
- Proven success leading (direct or indirect) diversified commercial teams, including sales, marketing, planning, communication, organization, and people leadership.
- Experience launching product categories in domestic and global markets.
- Understanding of QA/RA issues within the healthcare sector.
- Market development success in medical device, healthcare products, pharmaceutical, or a related industry, including opening new market opportunities.
- Regional breadth, with a record of growing businesses across multiple markets.
- Market knowledge and cultural affinity outside of home country.
- Strong sales and marketing capabilities, with the ability to drive sales execution and effectiveness with strategic marketing support.
- Demonstrated financial literacy, including P&L fluency, profitability analysis, scenario planning, and ability to make trade-off decisions that balance growth, margin, customer value, and operational feasibility.
- Senior leadership experience with the organizational savvy required to succeed in a matrixed structure.
- Ability to travel up to 50% based on business need and transformation demand, domestically and internationally.
