Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description The Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing equipment, enclosures, and tooling, with a strong focus on mechanical layouts and drawing updates. The role primarily uses Creo Parametric and Windchill to create and manage designs, while also supporting the creation of electrical schematics as needed. This position works closely with a collaborative team and follows established design and equipment checklists to ensure high-quality, reliable solutions. Responsibilities
- Design equipment, frames, tools, and enclosures to meet project and functional requirements.
- Create and update mechanical layouts and detailed engineering drawings using 3D CAD tools, primarily Creo Parametric.
- Use Windchill to manage design data, revisions, and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Complete designer checklists and equipment checklists thoroughly to ensure design accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Develop and maintain mechanical designs that integrate effectively with electrical systems and components.
- Create and update electrical schematics to support equipment and product designs.
- Collaborate closely with a cross-functional, highly team-oriented environment to refine designs and resolve technical issues.
- Review existing designs and drawings, making updates and improvements based on feedback and engineering requirements.
- Ensure all designs are documented clearly and are suitable for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of design experience in equipment or product design.
- Strong mechanical design skills with hands-on experience in 3D CAD tools.
- Proficiency with Creo Parametric or significant experience in another 3D CAD platform with willingness to work in Creo.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Experience creating electrical schematics to support mechanical designs.
- Attention to detail in completing design and equipment checklists and updating drawings accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Windchill or similar product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Experience in designing frames, tools, and enclosures for industrial or product applications.
- Comfort working on both mechanical and basic electrical aspects of equipment design.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers and other designers.
- Ability to adapt to established design processes and documentation standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
