Job Title: Project Scheduler - Industrial Projects Open to travelers or local candidates! Job Description The Project Scheduler plays a key role in developing, maintaining, and analyzing detailed construction schedules for large industrial projects. This position ensures that all work activities, resources, and costs are accurately planned and tracked, providing clear visibility into project performance and supporting informed decision-making. The scheduler collaborates closely with project leadership, field teams, subcontractors, and vendors to integrate schedules, monitor progress, and proactively address delays or changes while upholding strong safety and integrity standards. Responsibilities
- Review and develop comprehensive project schedules based on plans and specifications, incorporating budgeted dollars, quantities, labor resources, and integrating subcontractor and vendor schedules for services, equipment, and materials.
- Continuously update and revise the project schedule to reflect actual progress, delays, and other impacts, including actual start and finish dates, remaining durations, quantities installed, actual labor hours, and associated costs.
- Adjust schedules to account for drawing changes, design revisions, and delivery updates to maintain an accurate and current project plan.
- Develop and maintain a robust project cost code framework and a work breakdown structure (WPS) that supports a cost- and resource-loaded schedule.
- Create and regularly issue detailed management reports, including cash flow projections, hourly shutdown and outage schedules, weekly quantity reports, and performance metrics such as SPI, CPI, EV, and manpower reports.
- Track field progress systematically and ensure that schedule data aligns with on-site activities and production quantities.
- Review contractor and subcontractor programs for compliance with contract documents and scheduling requirements, and identify any deviations or risks.
- Advise the Superintendent and Project Manager on subcontractor and vendor performance, schedule adherence, and potential impacts to critical path activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, including engineering, construction management, and project controls, to ensure schedule accuracy and alignment with overall project objectives.
- Support project controls efforts by providing resource-loaded schedules and data necessary for performance measurement and forecasting.
- Participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, subcontractors, and craft employees to communicate schedule status, upcoming work, and changes in a clear and professional manner.
- Apply strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify scheduling issues, evaluate options, and recommend practical solutions.
- Maintain high standards of safety and integrity in all scheduling practices and support adherence to industry and safety standards.
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring schedule updates, reports, and analyses are completed with urgency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of four (4) years of project scheduling experience in construction, preferably within the heavy industrial sector.
- Industrial construction experience with exposure to large-scale or complex projects.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software (must have), including experience with resource-loaded schedules.
- Demonstrated experience in project controls and project scheduling, including developing and maintaining detailed construction schedules.
- Proven ability to track field progress, generate SPI, CPI, EV, and manpower reports, and review contractor schedules for contract compliance.
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or another relevant discipline.
- Strong scheduling software skills, with emphasis on Primavera P6.
- Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with managers, co-workers, subcontractors, and construction craft employees.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Understanding and appreciation of industry standards and safety practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management software such as Procore, Power BI, or similar tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with large commercial or industrial construction projects is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in resource loading and developing cost- and resource-loaded schedules.
- Experience generating detailed cash flow, shutdown, outage, and weekly quantity reports.
- Familiarity with project controls methodologies and performance measurement techniques.
- Comfort working in a family-oriented, safety-focused culture that emphasizes long-term career stability and integrity.
- Ability to multi-task with a strong sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy in schedule updates and reporting.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and temporarily reside at project sites for extended periods of time.
- Capability to collaborate closely with another scheduler on the project team and align schedules and reporting.
- Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills that support effective collaboration with diverse project stakeholders.
Work Environment This role is based on a large-scale industrial construction project in East Alton, IL, with a planned duration of approximately two years. The scheduler works on site daily and is expected to be present Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting a project that operates on a six-day workweek with ten-hour days. The position is part of a traveling project team and includes per diem for time spent away from home. There are several team members on site, and the scheduler works closely with another scheduler on the project team, reporting to senior project leadership. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and family-oriented, emphasizing long-term career stability and a strong commitment to integrity. Work is conducted in an industrial construction setting that requires regular interaction with field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors, and extensive use of scheduling, project management, and communication technologies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Alton, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
