**This is a full time, hourly position, primarily working Monday through Friday from 3:30-11:30p CST, and occasional weekends.
Job Summary
Responsible for supervising, overseeing, organizing, and directing the work of security staff engaged in patrolling and securing Children's Wisconsin facilities, grounds and personnel. In doing so, assigns personnel to posts or patrol, interprets CW policies and procedures, trains, equips and directs security personnel and guides internal and external customer service issues towards positive resolution.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates, supervises, and reviews the work of security personnel engaged in patrolling and securing CW facilities, grounds.
- Plans and prepares work schedules and priorities to provide adequate security coverage at all times, makes work assignments and reassigns personnel in response to staffing shortages, emergencies, or unusual incidents. Coordinates schedule with Security Leaders, on own or other shifts, to assure that at least one Security Leader is on duty at all times.
- Inspects and monitors security of hospital facilities, staff, patients, and visitors, and prepares regular and special reports and analyses of security activities.
- Assists in development of departmental or CW policies and procedures.
- Reviews and approves security incident reports or notes, and directs security personnel to provide additional information or investigate further as necessary.
- Performs work of security staff in response to workload and scheduling demands. Patrols (by foot or patrol vehicle) assigned areas of facilities and grounds according to established schedule and investigates unusual occurrences.
- Interfaces with Director, Manager, and other CW leaders on a regular basis to assure thorough communication and coordination with department activities.
- Responds to emergency situations of various types. Responses may include activities such as crowd control, disturbance resolution, verbal and physical intervention, firefighting duties and other activities of a similar nature, including subsequent appearances in court, hearings or chambers as requested.

Education
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
- Associate's Degree preferred or
- completion of 30 college credits in criminal justice or equivalent field of study preferred
- Currently certified or successfully complete departmental training in Defensive and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) or Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS) within 3 months of hire required
- Completion of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Supervisory Certification within 90-days of hire required
Experience
- 5+ years previous security experience required
- supervisory work experience preferred
- Experience as a uniformed security officer in healthcare security, corporate security, law enforcement, and/or military service preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to successfully complete all required introductory and annual competency training processes.
- Requires the ability to analyze problems and determine appropriate methods and proper sequence of work to ensure security of all staff, patients, and visitors, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary in order to effectively supervise assigned personnel and to interact with variety of hospital staff, patients, and visitors under potentially stressful situations.
- Strong computer skills in order to utilize equipment and systems (PC software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, CAD, Incident Reporting, etc.) inspect and monitor security of hospital facilities, staff, patients, and visitors, and prepare regular and special reports.
- Requires an acceptable driving record, ability to be insured by CHHS carrier.
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council within 90 Days required
- License Driver's License - State of Wisconsin required
