Job Title: Supply Chain Specialist Job Description
The Supply Chain Specialist expedites customer orders and inquiries in a professional and timely manner while maintaining high accuracy. This role focuses on order entry, customer support, returns processing, and coordination with shipping and accounts receivable to ensure smooth supply chain and logistics operations.
Responsibilities
- Expedite customer orders and inquiries quickly and accurately while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Enter orders from customers and sales representatives, ensuring each order includes an accurate scheduled ship date.
- Assist customers and sales representatives with current part numbers and pricing, providing clear and reliable information.
- Assign Return Goods Authorization (RGA) numbers and manage the associated Excel log to ensure parts are returned in a timely manner.
- Prepare work orders from RGA information for repair and restock or repair and return, ensuring proper documentation and workflow.
- Record credit card orders in both an Excel spreadsheet and a paper log, maintaining accurate and organized records.
- Maintain a Pro Log for truck shipments and promptly email the responsible sales representative with shipment details.
- Set up new customer accounts and maintain accurate company names, addresses, tax codes, and other relevant customer information.
- Prepare daily order information from shipping for the Accounts Receivable team to support timely and accurate invoicing.
- Handle multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining attention to detail and consistent follow-up on open items.
- Use telephone and email to communicate with customers and internal stakeholders for order status, issues, and general support.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service or supply chain functions, either face-to-face or by phone.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and sales representatives.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining accuracy and timely follow-up.
- High attention to detail in order entry, record keeping, and documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including the use of email and spreadsheets (such as Excel) for logs and reporting.
- Comfort using telephone for extended periods to support customers and internal teams.
- Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods while performing computer- and phone-based tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with scheduling activities related to orders and shipments.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for order entry and customer account maintenance.
- Background in supply chain, logistics, or related operational support functions.
- Ability to maintain organized logs for RGAs, truck shipments, and credit card orders.
- Strong follow-up skills to ensure returns, repairs, and shipments are completed on time.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment with a team of approximately 11 people in the office area. The Supply Chain Specialist will share office space with a senior employee in the same department who also serves as the plant manager, providing close collaboration and support. The position includes an individual desk and computer in a standard office setting, with work focused on telephone, email, and computer-based tasks. The company is a small, long-established organization with over 100 years of history and is known for taking care of its employees, offering a close-knit, supportive workplace culture.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
