The Role

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer provides instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering services to Worley and its customers. The role supports the delivery of I&C engineering work across projects, contributing to design, technical documentation, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution while working under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

- Execute instrumentation and controls engineering activities for assigned project scopes in accordance with Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, review, and maintain I&C engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument datasheets, I/O lists, instrument location drawings, cable schedules, and material requisitions.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, progress reporting, and required checking and quality assurance activities.
- Support the development of instrumentation specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and technical documentation.
- Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, including responding to technical queries and reviewing vendor documentation.
- Coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, automation, and other disciplines to ensure effective integration of I&C systems.
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other technical or safety reviews as required.
- Identify technical issues, discrepancies, and scope changes and support the development and implementation of appropriate solutions.
- Assist with field verification, site visits, walkdowns, and commissioning activities where required.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Support and contribute to the development of less experienced team members as appropriate.

Requirements

- 2-10 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience, preferably on multidisciplinary industrial projects.
- Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation and control systems and engineering practices.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and review I&C drawings, designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of I&C deliverables, including: P&IDs
- Loop and wiring diagrams
- Instrument location drawings
- Instrument datasheets and specifications
- I/O lists
- Cable, conduit, and tray schedules
- Control narratives
- Cause and effect diagrams
- Material requisitions

- Working knowledge of instrumentation selection and application, including flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement.
- Familiarity with engineering systems and workflows such as SAP and KMS, or equivalent.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
- EIT or P.Eng. registration with APEGA, or eligibility to pursue registration, is required.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $74,639 to $140,784
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
