Turf and Field Maintenance Technician

Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Turf & Field Manager, the Turf & Field Maintenance Technician performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to the maintenance, preparation, and appearance of athletic fields and sports complex grounds. The employee assists in maintaining safe and professional-quality facilities for athletic events, tournaments, and daily operations.

Essential Job Functions
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, May include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Operate groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, line stripers, blowers, and hand tools.
• Assist with turf repairs, irrigation maintenance, field renovations, and landscaping projects.
• Prepare sports complex grounds and facilities before and after sporting events, including custodial and cleanup duties.
• Remove debris and maintain cleanliness of walkways, bleachers, courts, pavilions, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Support tournament, league, and special event preparation and teardown activities.
• Monitor field conditions and report maintenance concerns or repairs needed to supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops, storage areas, and equipment.
• Assist with seasonal projects such as overseeding, sod installation, and field improvements.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, providing directions, and helping enforce facility regulations.
• Follow all safety procedures and operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Make daily written and oral reports regarding work completed and facility conditions.

• Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance and turf care practices.
• Ability to safely operate groundskeeping equipment and tools.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality athletic facilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Education and Experience
High School graduate or equivalent. Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or athletic field maintenance preferred.

Required Licenses or Certificates
Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 50+ pounds; ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely. Ability to perform manual labor including bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Working conditions are primarily outdoors.
