About Trayd

Trayd is solving the oldest problem in America: how do we build physical infrastructure that lasts generations? We’re replacing manual processes and legacy systems with AI-native software built around how construction actually runs. Companies using our software have built some of America’s greatest infrastructure projects like the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium and JFK International Airport.
We're building the category-defining back office for trade contractors with a platform that runs live payroll, job costing, and accounting workflows every week for the hardest-working people in the country. We grew 600% over the last year with a lean team of ~30, made up of some of the sharpest and most driven talent in New York.
We were in Y Combinator’s Summer 2023 batch and have raised over $15 million from Tier 1 investors. We’re proudly and permanently based in NYC. We’re in the next phase of growth, and every hire here directly shapes what customers see next.

The role

We're hiring our founding Account Manager to be the commercial owner for every customer Trayd serves, from single-entity subcontractors to multi-entity union shops. You own all growth after the sale: renewals, expansion, and the relationship with each account's decision makers. Expansion deals are yours from first conversation to signature. Our Account Executives own new customers; you make sure they have happy customers to point to.
You won't be answering support tickets or running onboarding. Our support team handles day-to-day questions, our product specialists own payroll, tax, union and accounting depth, and our CSMs verify each customer's setup on live payroll at the moments issues show up: first accounting export, first month-end close, first certified payroll, and quarter-end. When that work turns up a commercial need, such as a customer outgrowing their plan, adding an entity, or needing a paid accounting integration, it comes to you. You decide when and how to act.
##

Critical skills for this role

- You own a commercial book end to end. You close renewals and expansion yourself rather than handing them back to Sales.
- Comfort negotiating pricing and scope with owners, CFOs, and controllers, including when the customer is frustrated with us.
- Judgment on timing. You act on signals from our CSMs and account data, and know when a commercial conversation will help an account and when it should wait.
- A light, consistent touch across about 100 accounts, prioritizing by signal and risk.
- Comfort with data and CRM systems, including defining what a system needs to track.

##

What you’ll do

Own renewals and expansion
- Run renewals across the full book: timing, terms, pricing, and scope changes.
- Own expansion start to finish: Professional Services tiers, Trayd Accounting, paid accounting integrations, seats, add-ons, and new entities.
- Handle billing, fee, and tier conversations, including accounts whose support needs have outgrown their plan.
- Deliver a monthly forecast of renewals, expansion, and retention for your book.

Own the relationship
- Take the commercial relationship from Sales at handoff so customers know their contact from day one.
- Know every decision maker on every account.
- Check in with every account twice a year, with closer coverage on the largest accounts.
- Own customer escalations: the response, rallying the right internal teams, and closing the loop with the customer.
- Represent Trayd at construction industry events to meet customers in person.

Work across teams
- Act on commercial signals from our CSM team and account data, with judgment on timing.
- Build our customer referral database with Marketing: the customers who serve as references, case studies and referral sources for our Sales team, and the incentive programs behind it.

Build the function
- Build renewal tracking, the expansion pipeline, QBR criteria, and the CRM workflows behind them.
- Shape the account management system you and the team run on, working with Ops and Engineering.

##

Why this role is different

- You are first. This is the first dedicated Account Manager seat at Trayd. You'll build the renewal calendar, the playbook, and the tooling as you go.
- Expansion is yours end to end. Deals stay with you from first conversation to signature, with no handback to Sales.
- The account work is covered. Support, product specialists and CSMs handle day-to-day questions, domain depth and setup checks, so your time goes to renewals, expansion and relationships.

##

Who you are

- 4+ years owning renewals and closing expansion in B2B SaaS, with a quota or retention target you carried.
- Experience managing a book of about 100 accounts.
- Experience building and owning a renewal and expansion forecast.
- A record of building process where none existed: renewal calendars, playbooks, CRM fields.
- Comfortable representing Trayd at industry events, including some evenings and local travel.
- NYC-based or ready to relocate quickly.

##

Nice to have

- Construction, payroll, compliance, or vertical SaaS experience. You'll need to learn certified payroll, prevailing wage, and union wage classifications either way.
- Comfort with AI tools for account prep and training or QBR material.
