About this role

Description

Amazon's middle mile network moves at massive scale, and the technology on every tractor and trailer keeps it running. We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to own the reliability and performance of critical fleet technology platforms deployed across our middle mile transportation network, keeping our fleet connected and packages moving. In this role you will manage complex repair programs, vendor performance, and cross-functional partnerships with product engineering teams, OEM partners, and service providers to maximize device uptime and operational readiness across our tractor, trailer, and intermodal fleet.

You will work backward from network needs to diagnose root causes of device failures, implement systematic repair strategies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen fleet technology reliability. You will own vendor relationships, establish performance accountability mechanisms, and coordinate device strategy across transportation networks, aligning shared vendor relationships and measurement standards to unlock scale and consistency.

Key job responsibilities
- Own end-to-end device operations and repair program execution for critical fleet technology platforms across the middle mile tractor, trailer, and intermodal fleet, defining program strategy and driving teams inside and outside the organization to deliver
- Manage third-party vendor relationships and performance — including SLA enforcement, cost efficiency, and repair quality — while partnering with product engineering and OEM teams to diagnose systemic device failures and accelerate resolution
- Analyze device health and failure data to identify root causes, implement preventive maintenance strategies, and build reporting mechanisms that enable proactive issue identification and data-driven decisions
- Coordinate device repair strategy across transportation networks, aligning intake mechanisms, vendor relationships, and measurement standards to capture scale and reduce complexity
- Communicate program status, technical risks, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership through well-structured narratives and regular business reviews

A day in the life
You might start the morning reviewing overnight device health trends and triaging new failure reports with your engineering counterparts. By mid-morning you are on a call with a repair vendor, working through turnaround-time gaps and agreeing on corrective actions. After lunch you pull together data for a leadership review, translating repair metrics into a clear narrative about fleet readiness. Later you join a design review with the product team to weigh in on a hardware change that could reduce a recurring failure mode. Throughout the day you move between strategic planning and hands-on problem solving, keeping multiple programs on track.

About the team
The Middle Mile Fleet Technology team is responsible for keeping Amazon's fleet technology running reliably at scale. We sit at the intersection of hardware engineering, service operations, and vendor management, and our work directly affects delivery performance across the network.

We are a collaborative group that values clear thinking, practical solutions, and a willingness to get into the details. If you enjoy solving complex operational problems and want to see the real-world impact of your work every day, this is a great place to be.
