- Band 5 role - salary commencing at $85,114.74 per annum (pro-rata) + 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience)

The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Infrastructure Inspection Officer to help maintain the safety, functionality and performance of Council's road and related infrastructure assets.

In this field-based role, you will undertake programmed and reactive inspections across roads, footpaths, shared paths, drainage interfaces, bridges, traffic control signs and associated infrastructure, ensuring Council meets its obligations under the Road Management Plan and relevant legislation.

Working closely with maintenance crews, contractors, utilities, residents and internal stakeholders, you'll identify defects, assess risks, coordinate rectification works, verify compliance with Council standards and maintain accurate records to support asset management, service delivery and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake programmed and reactive inspections of Council roads, footpaths, shared paths and associated infrastructure assets.

- Identify, assess and record infrastructure defects in accordance with Council's Road Management Plan and inspection standards.

- Determine appropriate maintenance responses and escalate or control safety hazards where required.

- Create, issue and monitor work orders to ensure defects are rectified within required timeframes.

- Inspect civil construction, maintenance and reinstatement works to verify compliance with approved drawings, permits and Council standards.

- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, photographs and asset data within Council systems.

- Prepare inspection, compliance and performance reports to support operational decision-making and statutory requirements.

- Liaise effectively with residents, contractors, utility providers and internal stakeholders regarding inspection outcomes and infrastructure maintenance activities.

- Assist with investigations relating to asset damage, customer requests and insurance claims.

Skills & Experience

- Qualification in civil engineering, civil construction, infrastructure, asset management or a related discipline, and/or relevant demonstrated experience.

- Experience in infrastructure inspection, civil construction, maintenance, asset management or a related field.

- Sound understanding of municipal road and path assets and the principles of road management and risk-based inspection practices.

- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, permits and construction standards.

- Experience using asset management systems, mobile inspection technology, mapping systems and digital record-keeping tools.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet response timeframes.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.

- Current Victorian Driver Licence.

- Construction Industry White Card, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
