Senior Lab Technician / Enterprise Dye Lab

Dye Technician

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Sr. Technologist/Dyeing

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lab Technician performs duties to support the daily operation of the dye lab. This includes maintaining greige inventories for sample dyeings, receiving and entering new color requests through the SAP system, cutting, labeling, and mailing lab samples. Duties also include entering approved dye formulas into the SAP system, preparing production folders, and submitting lab samples to the QA lab for fastness. The Lab Technician is also responsible for quality checks of incoming dyes and operates the mini-jet dye machine and other sample dyeing/finishing equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Regular and predictable attendance

- Use spectrophotometer and software for dye checks

- Use SAP LSR system

- Use solution maker

- Operate heatset ovens, pads, mini-jet, die press ,gram scales and sample stretcher

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Computer skills

- Math skills

- Organizational skills

- Color acuity

- Communication skills

- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Familiar with Beckman spectrophotometer software

- Familiar with solution maker software

- Familiar with UPS/Fedex shipping processes

- Familiar with SAP lab work creation programs

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

- Understand different dye classifications and test protocols for each

- Use scales to weigh small amounts of dyes/chemicals

- Communicate with customers and sales associates

1. Standing : Ability to stand while working 35% of day

- Sitting : Ability to sit down 35% of day

- Moving : Ability to move throughout plant: 10% of day

- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 05% of day

- Ascending/Descending: Ability to walk up/downstairs/work platform 05% of day

- Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to reach into dye machines to load/unload 05% of day

- Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor 05% of day

- Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, 100% of day

including reading information from printed sources and

computer screens, and assessing color

9. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand

information. 100% of day

10. Pulmonary: Ability to work around dyes and chemicals 50% of day

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around dyes and chemicals in an area where high heat ovens and dyeing equipment are present.

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Shift schedule: Current schedule is Monday-Thursday, 10 hrs per day. Must be able to work Fridays if required. Schedule subject to change based on order volume in the lab.
