OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

- Report to the Electrical Supervisor – Underground and execute electrical maintenance, repairs and installations for underground electrical infrastructure across day and night shift in a safe and compliant manner.

- Monitor, inspect and execute planned electrical maintenance works to ensure equipment is maintained to original equipment manufacturer standards and handed over in a timely manner for safe and efficient use.

- Support maximum equipment and power availability through compliant maintenance and installation of underground electrical systems and by providing timely information on equipment performance and status.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Work according to total quality management principles and support zero defect and safety objectives.

- Comply with Government of Ghana agencies requirements, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGAG regulations.

- Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by the work.

- Ensure compliance to safety leading indicators and lead by example to create a safe working environment where risks are assessed and managed.

- Use inspections, audits, JHA and other elements of the Safety Management System and ensure compliance individually and as a team.

- Assist with timely investigation of injuries, illness and incidents and support action plans to prevent recurrence.

- Assist to conduct periodic safety audits of the underground electrical infrastructure.

- Report hazards associated with the work and execute corrective actions in a timely manner to prevent damage to equipment, personnel and the environment.

- Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and comply with operating procedures and environmental rules for the assigned job.

- Implement maintenance and operational activities in accordance with Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site Aspect Register related to the section.

- Correct or report to the Electrical Supervisor – Underground any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions, and suggest improvements to environmental management.

- Gather information for the Electrical Supervisor – Underground for reporting performance.

- Actively work according to AGA’s How we Work guidelines.

- Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.

- Maintain good and effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, superintendents and management.

- Interface with contractors and or the construction team regarding electrical work tasks for project work and planned works supporting the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.

- Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked in compliance with relevant Government of Ghana and AGAG regulations.

- Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment and tools prior to leaving the workshop and escalate any anomalies.

- Assess equipment required for completion of tasked work, create checklists and transport all tools necessary for task completion.

- Recognize machine and electrical equipment anomalies that indicate a requirement for maintenance, and report and escalate them.

- Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner and Electrical Supervisor to close out work orders in SAP on completion of underground maintenance activities.

- Carry out work in a cost-effective manner and identify and communicate potential cost reduction initiatives.

- Execute work in a timely manner.

- Monitor equipment performance on the asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.

- Report directly to the Electrical Supervisor – Underground and report all electrical issues to the Electrical Supervisor – Underground.

- Stop equipment from working if there is a high risk or it is unsafe to be used and escalate to the supervisor.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

- Minimum of Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate Part II or City and Guilds electrical certificate Part II.

- Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field.

Experience

- 1-2 years in technical roles, preferably in electrical underground infrastructure within the mining industry.

Knowledge & Skills

- Technical proficiency in electrical underground equipment and systems works.

- Knowledge in troubleshooting faults and repair of electrical systems.

- Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining Health Safety and Technical Regulation.

- Strong underground electrical fixed and mobile plant and equipment maintenance, repairs and installation capability.

- Sound knowledge in electrical standards and specifications.

- Fully competent in electrical trade.

- Good knowledge in troubleshooting faults and repair of underground electrical systems and infrastructure.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to pay attention to detail.

- Ability to identify solutions to problems.

- Hands-on approach and willingness to work to obtain the required results.

- Ability to communicate technical issues both orally and in writing.

- Fully literate and numerate.

- Model work behaviors consistent with company values.
