Job Description
**Main Responsibilities:**
- Oversee interior finishes and themed works, including rockwork, themed plaster, decorative painting, props, themed signage, lighting interfaces, and paving.
- Review interior and theming shop drawings, material submissions, samples, fabrication details, and method statements to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Manage the sample and mock-up programme, including First Article inspections, to establish approved benchmarks before bulk production commences.
- Inspect factory fabrication to verify materials, finishes, and compliance with approved samples before delivery to site.
- Monitor site installation for colour, texture, finish consistency, dimensional accuracy, and workmanship standards.
- Coordinate interior and themed elements with architecture, MEP, lighting, AV, and show systems, working closely with the Design Intent Management team.
- Support inspections, snagging, and corrective actions to preserve the quality and consistency of the finished environment.
- Monitor progress and highlight issues affecting fabrication, installation, or completion timelines.
- Initiate and develop construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by discipline leaders.
- Complete design assignments of limited to moderate complexity under direct supervision, applying established design practices, standards, and procedures.
- Prepare designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions.
- Develop and maintain proficiency with vendor documents, specifications, and material submissions relevant to interior design disciplines.
- Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and clients, to ensure alignment on design expectations and timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including approvals, samples, inspection records, and corrective action logs for audit and reference purposes.
- Identify and escalate potential risks, design conflicts, or quality concerns to senior team members and project leadership in a timely manner.
Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related discipline
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in interior design, with demonstrated expertise in themed environments, hospitality, or entertainment design
- Proficiency in CAD software and design visualisation tools
- Strong knowledge of interior finishes, materials, and fabrication processes
- Experience managing shop drawings, material submissions, and First Article inspections
- Proven ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architecture, MEP, lighting, AV systems)
- Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and workmanship standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Ability to interpret and apply building codes, design standards, and specifications
- Experience with site inspections, snagging processes, and corrective action management
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience in themed entertainment, hospitality, or luxury retail environments
- Knowledge of colour theory, texture, and finish consistency in design applications
- Familiarity with vendor management and procurement processes
- Experience with construction documentation and design intent management
- Project management certification or equivalent experience
- Understanding of lighting design interfaces and AV system integration
- Track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines
