Job Overview
The Phosphating Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining phosphating line equipment and associated surface treatment processes. This role ensures components are properly prepared, treated, inspected, and documented in accordance with quality, safety, and environmental standards. The position plays a key role in maintaining coating integrity, process efficiency, equipment reliability, and compliance with company HSE and quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Operate phosphating line processes including degreasing, pickling, phosphating, rinsing, and drying operations.
- Prepare components for treatment through cleaning, masking, handling, and staging activities.
- Monitor and control process parameters such as chemical concentration, temperature, pH levels, and immersion times.
- Perform chemical preparation, bath maintenance, replenishment, and monitoring activities.
- Inspect coated components to ensure coating thickness, uniformity, adhesion, and quality requirements are achieved.
- Conduct routine maintenance of tanks, pumps, conveyors, and associated process equipment.
- Troubleshoot minor operational and equipment issues and support process adjustments when required.
- Maintain accurate operational records, inspection reports, and process documentation.
- Coordinate with QA/QC personnel on inspections, quality concerns, and non-conformance resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with all HSE procedures related to chemical handling, waste disposal, and environmental protection.
- Report unsafe conditions and exercise stop-work authority when immediate HSE or quality risks are identified.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork across production, quality, and operations functions.
- Utilize materials, chemicals, and equipment responsibly to minimize waste and control operating costs.

Qualifications:
Required
- Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in phosphating, coating, surface treatment, or industrial chemical processing environments.
- Basic understanding of chemical processes, coating operations, and surface treatment techniques.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices and industrial safety procedures.
- Ability to work in manufacturing and industrial production environments.
- Physically capable of handling materials and performing operational duties safely.
Preferred
- Experience operating automated or semi-automated phosphating lines.
- Familiarity with coating inspection methods and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance and hazardous waste management practices.
- Experience in manufacturing, oilfield equipment, industrial finishing, or metal treatment operations.
