About this role
The Assembly Technician III is an experienced role responsible for leading complex assembly projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in assembled components, and providing mentorship to junior technicians. This role involves significant expertise in assembly techniques and tools, as well as the ability to work independently and resolve complex issues.
The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex assembly projects and ensure timely completion.
- Perform detailed inspections and tests on assembled products to ensure quality.
- Resolve complex assembly issues and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate technicians.
- Document and report on production activities, discrepancies, and improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to develop and implement assembly improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new tools and equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly processes.
- Maintain thorough documentation of assembly processes and outcomes.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3+ years' experience as an assembly technician or in a related field.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- A great understanding of manufacturing, production or warehouse environments.
- Ability to read and interpret complex assembly instructions and blueprints.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Certification in advanced soldering or electronics assembly.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Essential Functions:
- Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
- Stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
- Ability to travel may be required.
- For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
