About this role
CoVerica is a premier, employee-owned independent insurance agency with over 40 years of history, and we're actively expanding across the Dallas-Fort Worth market. We're looking for a Senior IT Desktop Technician to be the hands-on face of IT for our team. You'll keep our people productive by supporting desktops, laptops, Microsoft 365, and everyday business applications, resolving escalated issues, and helping us keep every device secure and running smoothly as the agency grows.
This role is based on-site at our Dallas-Fort Worth office. After an initial acclimation period, there is the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule.
A Little Bit About CoVerica
• Recognized as a Top 10 DFW Fastest Growing Property & Casualty Insurance Agency by the Dallas Business Journal.
• In business for over 40 years, with an in-place succession plan to remain independent for the next 40.
• Part of the national SIAA network, representing nearly $12.5 billion in insurance premium together.
Why CoVerica?
Because you shouldn't have to choose between the resources of a national carrier and the culture of a true independent. At CoVerica, you get both:
• The market access, carrier relationships, and technology of a premier, growing agency with over 40 years of history.
• The agility, autonomy, and true sense of ownership that only an independent, employee-owned firm can offer.
• A team that lives by two simple rules: we treat others as ourselves, and we do the right thing, even when it hurts.
Path to Controller
• This role is designed as the next-in-line position for Controller, with a clear development path rather than an open-ended promise.
• Year one: own the monthly close, reconciliations, and agency-bill and carrier-payable workflows.
• Years two and three: lead budgeting and forecasting, audit and tax coordination, and financial reporting to ownership and leadership.
• Controller transition: take over full accountability for the finance function, with a timeline set jointly with agency leadership based on performance and readiness.
What You'll Do
Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and present results to leadership.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Agency Operations Accounting
• Manage commissions, carrier payables and receivables, premium trust and fiduciary accounts, and agency-bill and direct-bill reconciliations.
• Oversee carrier remittances and collections, and resolve discrepancies between the agency management
system and the general ledger.
• Track producer commission and bonus calculations in partnership with sales leadership.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
• Lead the annual budget and rolling forecasts, and analyze revenue, retention, and profitability by line of business and producer.
• Provide clear financial insight that supports growth, hiring, and acquisition decisions.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on audits, tax filings, and employee-owned (ESOP) reporting requirements as applicable.
• Maintain fiduciary account compliance and support insurance regulatory and carrier audits.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll support.
• Document and improve finance processes and make better use of AMS360 and accounting software.
What You'll Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred.
• 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Insurance agency or brokerage accounting experience strongly preferred, including agency-bill and premium trust accounting.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel; experience with AMS360 or a comparable agency management system is a plus.
• Leadership presence and a genuine interest in becoming Controller.
• Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
Compensation & What You Can Expect
• Base salary of $80,000-$83,000 annually, based on experience and credentials.
• Annual bonus opportunity tied to company performance.
• Defined path and timeline discussion toward the Controller position.
• Opportunity for investment in company stock as part of our employee-owned model.
• Medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance added at no cost to you, plus 401(k).
• Paid time off, gym/fitness facility access, college loan repayment and tuition reimbursement programs, and team-building activities.
Hybrid Schedule
• Live within 30 miles of our office: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
• Live more than 30 miles from our office: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.
