About this role
A little bit about our team:
You'll be part of the team behind Warner Music Group's direct-to-consumer storefronts, the online stores where fans buy from some of the world's best-known artists and labels. It's a chance to do meaningful e-commerce work at scale, alongside experienced developers, and to grow your skills on a platform millions of fans rely on.
Your role:
We're looking for a Shopify Developer who works across development, quality assurance (QA) and support. You'll join a mature Shopify environment with an established codebase and release process. Part of your week goes to building, from day-to-day fixes to new theme features. Part goes to QA: testing releases, catching bugs before customers do, and helping replace manual testing with automation. And part goes to support: picking up storefront issues raised by the business, investigating them and resolving them quickly.
There's a real learning curve here, and we'll support you with structured onboarding and code review. What matters most is solid Shopify fundamentals, clean code habits, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine drive to learn and take on more over time.
Here you’ll get to:
- Build and customise theme sections, templates and features in Liquid
- Pick up development tickets, from settings and content changes to bug fixes and new functionality, growing into larger features as you ramp up
- Build configurable sections with well-structured theme settings, so merchants can make changes without code
- Write structured, maintainable code: component-based JavaScript, scoped to its section, with clear naming and no one-off workarounds
- Install, configure and troubleshoot Shopify apps
- Work in Git and pull request workflows, including reviewing and responding to code review
- Test theme releases and new features before they go live, across browsers and devices, including mobile, checkout flows and key conversion paths
- Help build and maintain test plans, checklists and regression coverage for storefront functionality
- Test for accessibility against WCAG standards, including keyboard navigation, screen reader behaviour, colour contrast and form labelling
- Write clear, reproducible bug reports and verify fixes
- Spot repetitive manual testing and help automate it, using AI tools where they help
- Pick up support tickets for storefront and Shopify admin issues, from content and settings changes to bugs reported by the business
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues across themes, apps and integrations, and resolve them or escalate them with clear findings
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders about what's wrong, what's being done, and when it'll be fixed
About you:
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on Shopify development experience at an agency or a brand running on Shopify
- A portfolio of Shopify work you can show us
- Solid understanding of Shopify themes: sections, templates, theme settings and the Shopify admin
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript or TypeScript, plus familiarity with lightweight client-side frameworks such as Stimulus or Alpine.js
- Understanding of responsive, mobile-first development
- Experience testing your own and others' work: writing test cases, running regression checks and filing clear bugs
- Working knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.1 AA, and how to test for them
- Comfortable troubleshooting issues you didn't create, and explaining them clearly to non-technical people
- Comfortable with Git and pull requests
- Experience using AI tools in your development or testing workflow
- A habit of structured code development: organised files, reusable components and code that other developers can easily read and extend
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ownership of your work
We’d love it if you also had:
- Shopify Plus experience
- CI/CD experience, for example GitHub Actions
- Experience with a test automation tool, such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium
- Visual regression testing tools
- Front-end build tooling, such as Vite or webpack
- Shopify CLI or the Shopify Admin API
