Job Summary

Analyzes and leads projects involving the design, implementation, administration, and communication of leave and disability programs. Ensures programs align with organizational objectives, meet legal requirements, remain competitive and cost-effective, and deliver effective service through third-party administrators. Resolves participant and provider issues as needed.

Essential Functions

- Identify and implement improvements to leave and disability program delivery and administration that increase accuracy, service quality, operational efficiency, and with a focus on employee experience.

- Analyze leave administration processes and implement improvements that reduce errors, strengthen controls, and promote timely, consistent case management.

- Collect, validate, and analyze program data to support informed decisions for leave and disability program design, pricing and administration.

- Interpret resolutions using leave and disability program documents, research complex issues, and recommend consistent, compliant resolutions for employees, Human Resources, and external partners.

- Develop clear, accurate employee communications regarding leave and disability programs and program changes to improve understanding, support informed decisions, and reduce avoidable questions.

- Collaborate with management, HR business partners, legal, vendors, and employees to investigate leave and disability related issues including alignment of stakeholders to provide timely, well-supported, responses.

- Lead ongoing compliance oversight for leave and disability programs by monitoring and interpreting legal and regulatory developments, affecting leave and disability programs—including the FMLA, ADA, short-term disability plans, sick leave requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and state paid medical and family leave programs, such as Minnesota’s program

- Assess program, operational, financial, system, and employee impacts; advise leadership and cross-functional partners on compliance risks and recommended actions; and drive—and coordinate timely implementation of required policy.

- Establish controls, document decisions, monitor implementation effectiveness, and escalate material compliance risks to Legal and leadership. Support timely, consistent compliance.

- Monitor third-party administrator performance, service levels, escalations, and corrective actions to ensure service standards are met, participant issues are resolved promptly.

- Conduct employee meetings and educational sessions to explain leave and disability programs, answer questions, and improve understanding of available resources and responsibilities.

- Lead ad hoc projects that address emerging business needs, strengthen administration and compliance, and advance leave and disability program objectives.

Education Description

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

- Minimum of five years of experience in leave, disability, benefits, or related HR program administration, including at least three years of direct experience administering leave and disability programs.

- Competent with MS Office applications.

- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

- Knowledge of HRIS (SAP preferred).

- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations effectively, both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

- Ability to protect confidential information.

- Minimal travel may be required
