Rose Senior Living Farmington Hills is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Utility Housekeeper to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for floor care, deep cleaning, and special cleaning projects throughout the community. The Utility Housekeeper supports the Environmental Services team by maintaining floors, completing detailed cleaning assignments, and assisting with larger projects that help keep the community clean, safe, and welcoming.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Clean, maintain, and restore carpet, ceramic tile, vinyl, and other flooring surfaces throughout the community.
- Operate floor-care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, carpet-cleaning equipment, and other approved equipment.
- Strip, wax, buff, scrub, and maintain floors according to established schedules and procedures.
- Perform deep-cleaning and special cleaning projects throughout resident and common areas as assigned.
- Assist with annual apartment cleanings, apartment turnover projects, and other large-scale cleaning assignments.
- Clean and maintain trash rooms, service areas, and other assigned utility spaces.
- Remove trash and waste from assigned areas and follow proper disposal procedures.
- Maintain floor-care equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Replenish supplies and maintain organized storage and utility areas.
- Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all infection-control, sanitation, chemical-handling, and safety procedures.
- Support community events, special projects, and Environmental Services needs as assigned.
- Assist with special Environmental Services projects and related duties as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, respect, and sensitivity in all interactions with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Previous floor-care, janitorial, custodial, hospitality, apartment, or healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor-care equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow safety instructions, equipment instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable and willing to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Must demonstrate an interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance as appropriate.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, twist, push, and pull throughout the shift.
