About You and This Role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Operations Performance Leader at our Texas Operations site in Freeport, Texas.
In this role, you will provide leadership within a chemical manufacturing environment and support logistics operations responsible for the safe loading, unloading, storage, transfer, and movement of multiple chemical products. The successful candidate will possess a strong manufacturing operations background and a demonstrated ability to lead people, develop capability, and improve performance in a process-driven operating environment.
You will partner closely with Production facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, and Technical resources to drive safe, reliable, and efficient site logistics operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational excellence across process safety, environmental performance, productivity, reliability, and cost. The successful candidate will be a visible leader in the field, actively engaging with frontline personnel and coaching teams to strengthen operational discipline, improve management systems, reduce unplanned events, and deliver sustainable business results.
Responsibilities
- Lead frontline operations performance across site logistics activities, including chemical loading, unloading, storage, transfer, and transportation support activities.
- Develop and maintain a strong safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, mentoring, and active engagement with operations personnel.
- Drive operational discipline and compliance with process safety, environmental, regulatory, and operating requirements.
- Partner with production facilities to safely and reliably execute logistics activities that support manufacturing operations.
- Lead and develop operators, shift leaders, and technical personnel to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations.
- Strengthen team capability through coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, reliability, productivity, and cost performance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks associated with hazardous chemical handling and facility operations.
- Improve management systems, work processes, operating procedures, and operational standards to drive sustainable performance.
- Prioritize team resources and improvement efforts to maximize value creation and eliminate non-value-added work.
- Ensure effective corrective actions are implemented from self-assessments, audits, Root Cause Investigations (RCIs), KPI performance gaps, and operational learning events.
- Champion operational excellence through robust use of data, metrics, problem-solving tools, and risk-based decision making.
- Serve as, or develop the capability to serve as, the Facility Work Group Leader delegate.
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, production, and EH&S personnel to continuously improve operational performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline, OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E-5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class/Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing/operations experience in a chemical, petrochemical, refining, energy, industrial manufacturing, or similarly high-hazard operating environment.
- Understanding of process safety, operational discipline, risk management, and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience working in environments involving hazardous materials, hazardous energy sources, or complex industrial processes.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical manufacturing, refining, industrial gases, terminals, marine operations, bulk liquid handling, or industrial logistics operations.
- Experience leading shift teams, work groups, production units, logistics operations teams, or manufacturing organizations.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Safe Work Processes, Root Cause Investigation (RCI), and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with production operations, maintenance, reliability, or operational excellence programs.
- Experience leading cultural transformation, capability-building, or operational improvement initiatives.
