About this role
We are looking for an Associate Scientist to join our team at Technology Terrace, West of Scotland Science Park.
Join our Operations team as an Associate Scientist and play a key role in performing a range of laboratory activities to support client projects using biosafety, biophysical and bioanalytical assays.
Through your commitment to GMP, you will play a vital role in creating a high-quality laboratory environment where accurate, reliable results make a real impact that enable our teams to focus on what matters most: better health for more people.
Based at our Technology Terrace site West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow, you will become part of a team of nine dedicated professionals who look forward to shaping the future together with you.
Grow With Us – Your Responsibilities
- Perform a range of laboratory techniques under GMP conditions, including cell-based assays, ELISAs and protein characterisation, to support the testing of biological products such as monoclonal antibodies, cell and gene therapies and vaccines
- Support the smooth and efficient running of laboratory activities by managing stock levels, placing orders and ensuring materials and reagents are available, in date and ready for use
- Complete laboratory records to the required standards, maintaining full traceability of samples, reagents and equipment
- Prepare and review controlled documentation, including material specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), change controls and risk assessments
- Maintain a safe, organised and inspection ready laboratory, ensuring continuous compliance with GxP regulations
- Develop your career through a clear progression pathway to Scientist, with opportunities to contribute to study documentation, engage with clients, undertake proactive research and solve complex problems, with the potential to progress into Study Director or management roles responsible for regulatory compliance
What Will Convince Us
- A HNC in a scientific discipline, or a BSc or MSc in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics or a related subject
- Experience in cell culture and/or ELISAs would be beneficial; however, full training will be provided
- Practical experience in calibrating instruments, preparing reagents and media, cell culture, and inventory control
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work in accordance with quality standards such as GMP or GLP
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate effectively across departments
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise effectively and manage your own workload
- A detail focused, adaptable and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
