Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to any Service Center throughout Michigan with a preference being in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Senior Engineering Technical Analyst is responsible for the development and enhancement of standards and materials, including emerging technologies while continuing to meet all applicable regulatory rules and codes and solving problems for different work groups within compliance of all applicable rules. The incumbent requires communication of these standards and direction to both engineers and operations in a concise manner that allows precise application of the standards and technology. The Senior Engineering Technical Analyst will lead moderately complex projects and ensure they are completed according to plan and budget.
This role is also responsible for communicating a balanced annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly resource and workload plan that supports business objectives and performance targets. The role assists in identifying and escalating resource gaps within the assigned business unit and requires close cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders, including Resource Planning, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Forestry and Finance. This position supports the planning, scheduling, forecasting, and coordination of technical and operational activities to help ensure accurate and effective work plans. Coordinate with HVD Design and Standards Departments for pilot material programs and process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and/or assist with engineering projects to include design, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation.
- Approve highly complex construction prints, work instructions, and procedures.
- Address complex concerns, investigate suggestions, and provide support, direction, and recommendations to the multi work groups effected.
- Respond to incident investigations, responsible for causal analysis/incident reports. Provide timely correspondence to external regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the scope document process, project cost-estimates, project meetings, and closeout estimates.
- Develop and maintain documentation processes associated with integrated systems including; hardware, applications, protocols, detailed point lists and revision control.
- Perform advanced research and development that leads to issuing updates to engineering and construction standards, manuals, design tools and documents that are used across the business to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply comprehensive data analysis and sound decision-making methodologies to effectively support organizational needs and business objectives.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate reports while providing analysis and actionable feedback on key performance indicators for managers and other stakeholders.
- Partner with supervisors, managers, peers, and cross-functional stakeholders to create, maintain, and leverage best practices and strategy optimization.
- Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and develop a clear understanding of their objectives.
- Enter emergency material requirements into SAP and submit the appropriate tickets to support partners/Supply Chain with their coordination and fulfillment.
- Perform 3rd party reviews with cross-functional stakeholders relating to easement releases .
- SAP management includes closing construction and support tasks as well as completing PUV documents and associated SAP tasks.
- Support pre-bid meetings and storm restorations.
- Engage with contractor crews to conduct site safety visits, investigate incidents, evaluate and maintain accurate records. Prepare and submit required reports to the appropriate parties.
- Participate in meetings to support the development, coordination, and execution of work plans.

- Ability to research and understand advanced industry trends and provide utility benchmarking.

- Knowledge of Lean Methods/Tools.
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting projects and priorities simultaneously.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Technical or related field with four (4) or more years of experience supporting advanced engineering work/projects.
[OR] Associate Degree in Technical or related field with six (6) or more years of experience supporting advanced engineering work/projects.
- [OR] High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) or more years of experience supporting advanced engineering work/projects.
Preferred Experience
- Electric Transmission or Distribution experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Power BI, Power Apps and other relevant business systems.
