This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation powertrain control systems as part of a high-performing in-house team. Our scope ranges from hybrid engine control systems to fully electric powertrains, including electric drive units and inverters.

About the role

In this role, you will take end-to-end hardware responsibility for key electronic control units, such as the Engine Control Module (ECM) or inverter. You will ensure a robust product design and drive the component through development, industrialization, production, and lifecycle management.

You will coordinate technical topics across customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, driving hardware development from concept to series production. You will work closely with Software Component Owners, architects, and specialists in functional safety, cybersecurity, and EMC to secure a well-integrated and reliable solution.

Key responsibilities

* Own the hardware design, technical requirements, and lifecycle management of electronic control units (ECUs).

* Lead hardware development and industrialization from concept and supplier selection to validated series production.

* Ensure compliance with applicable automotive standards, technical requirements, and development processes.

* Identify and resolve hardware challenges related to EMC, electrical loads, interfaces, and circuit-board pin functionality.

* Collaborate with software engineers and system architects to secure interfaces, integration, and ECU network topology.

* Serve as the technical lead and main point of contact for suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Skill requirements

Your profile

* Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.

* Several years of experience in electronics hardware development, preferably within the automotive industry.

* Demonstrated experience taking automotive ECUs from development through industrialization and production.

* Strong knowledge of ECU communication, EMC, electrical loads, interfaces, and circuit-board pin functionality.

* Good understanding of hardware–software interaction, system integration, and ECU network topology.

* Experience from Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Geely Group, or a comparable automotive organization is considered an advantage.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of technical solutions.

Why join us?

Join a collaborative, international automotive environment where advanced technology meets real-world impact. In this role, you will influence the next generation of electronic control systems, work with skilled colleagues across disciplines, and take ownership of solutions that support more sustainable mobility.
