About this role
Assignment Description
Role: Power Electronics Simulation Engineer
Help us power sustainable mobility.
We are looking for a Power Electronics Simulation Engineer to join our Electronics & Software group. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to next-generation electrified powertrain systems within a high-performing in-house team. Our scope includes hybrid and fully electric powertrains, with a strong focus on electric drive units, inverters, power converters, and their interaction with the complete vehicle system.
About the role
In this role, you will develop and apply simulation models to evaluate, optimize, and validate power electronics solutions throughout the product-development process. Your work will support key design decisions for inverters, converters, semiconductor devices, passive components, and thermal management.
You will work closely with hardware engineers, control-software developers, system architects, test engineers, and specialists in thermal management, EMC, functional safety, and cybersecurity. By correlating simulation results with test data, you will help create accurate models, robust designs, and efficient verification methods from concept to series production.
Key responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and validate simulation models for power electronics systems and components.
* Perform electrical, thermal, and efficiency simulations for inverters, DC/DC converters, semiconductor devices, and associated components.
* Support component sizing, topology selection, design optimization, and technical trade-off studies.
* Analyze switching behaviour, power losses, harmonics, transient performance, thermal loading, and system efficiency.
* Correlate simulation results with laboratory and vehicle test data, identify deviations, and improve model accuracy.
* Present simulation results and recommendations clearly to technical teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Skill requirements
Your profile
* Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
* Several years of experience in power electronics simulation, modelling, or development, preferably within the automotive industry.
* Hands-on experience with relevant simulation tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, PSIM, Ansys, or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of power semiconductor technologies, switching circuits, modulation methods, passive components, and power-conversion topologies.
* Good knowledge of electrical and thermal modelling, control-system interaction, and model correlation with physical test results.
* Programming or scripting experience in Python, MATLAB, or a similar language is considered an advantage.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex simulation results into practical engineering recommendations.
Why join us?
Join a collaborative, international automotive environment where advanced simulation directly influences real products. In this role, you will help shape next-generation power electronics, work across disciplines, and turn complex analysis into robust, efficient solutions for more sustainable mobility.
